I drive my Picanto almost every working day since September 13, 2004, at NLEX and I can assure you, it's a reliable car on the expressway.

I heard the December issue of Top Gear magazine (Philippine Edition) might feature the first meeting (EB) of a group of Picanto owners at Kia Quezon Avenue. I wasn't there when they met last Saturday, November 12. Konti lang sila pero ang saya nila sa pictures at ang kikinis ng kanilang mga kotse, hehehe.

Way to go, guys! I hope you make it to the magazine! See you there!

Does anybody here drive the automatic version of the Picanto? What's the km/l in real world driving conditions? Pakisagot naman pleaasse, it's a toss up for me between the Picanto (value for money, i.e. mura, hehe) and the Jazz CVT (best fuel economy).

    Sun Tzu,

bro, marami ka ring matutunan doon sa group. just join in the discussion anytime. I cannot post the url of the pictures website without permission. But if you sign in to the group as bon suggested and ask for those fun, candid shots I am sure you will get to the website. On the other hand, one of the members happen to be a professional photographer. It was his shots that might make it to Top Gear Mag.

    Isanshades,

so far, the most accomodating Kia dealer seem to be Kia Quezon Avenue, from what I read on our picanto yahoo group although wala pa akong experience doon. my own dealer, Signet Mandaluyong is also ok and my sales agent there is Ms Carrie. If you read the previous posts in this thread you might get an idea about the service of other Kia dealers. Some members of the group have less than satisfactory experience with Kia Commonwealth.

    bon,

congrats to you and the organizers of the EB and the originators of the picanto-ph yahoo group!

    piter

sorry bro, i don't know the Picanto automatic fuel mileage. maybe some automatic owners might drop by to shed some light on this.

    Prospective buyers

the current price of the Picanto is P415,000 cash. Getz= P419,000. Jazz=? i have no idea. it's best to contact the dealers for updated pricing and payment schemes. to help you decide, you have to spend time reading the threads on the Picanto, Getz, and the Jazz. Happy hunting!

Thanks Ctrl Alt Del! Might go around mandaluyong and Quezon ave. to check. Mas malapit ako quezon ave since I live in caloocan. I think the jazz is more expensive by about a hundred thou. but they have a promo now. Pero in comparison mahal pa din compared to the two. I still like the picanto kasi mas cute tingnan. If ever I buy one am I welcome sa picanto group ninyo?

Of course! The more the merrier! Quite a few of our members signed up first before they bought their Picantos (since they wanted feedback muna from other owners before buying).

    Presenting my latest 'Inaanak':

It's an '06 Kia Picanto 1.1 LX A/T which belongs to my commander's older brother. Unfortunately he is still learing about cars and driving so we had to accompany him to pick it up at Wheels E. Rod.

    Some notes:
*The free floormats were lousy. I bought 'Calypso' Type R universal floormats from SM Hardware kanina (it costs Php 399.75 then I just removed the cheesy 'Type R' logos).
*The seatcovers were nothing spectacular, too.
*The 'dark' tint was nice enough. Though we forgot to specify a full (one-piece) windshield film. They just put in the standard visor. I think they used Platinum film.
*Had to take out all the plastic films and protective covers ourselves. Why they deliver cars like this, I don't know. Sala set lang ng mga lola ang binabalot sa plastic, hindi mga kotse. So off went the films.
*They also didn't remove the big foam door protectors used during shipping.
*I had them remove the shipping label on the rear quarter window (it was placed inside the manual).

It drives well enough, though medyo malakas ang road noise even when compared to the diesel '96 Pajero and the '95 Vitara. The tranny was also smooth. You wouldn't think you were driving the cheapest brand-new car in the market today (the Norkis Legacy is not exactly brand-new).

New for '06 is the standard face-off Jensen CD player with two front speakers. Easy to use, quite idiot proof. But the electric blue buttons and display wreak havoc on my eyes during night driving.

Central locking and an anti-theft system are in line when budget allows. I put in a steering wheel lock in the meantime.

Any words of wisdom regarding this vehicle from more veteran Picanto owners?

    Congratulations on your new ride!!!!!!!

Take care of her and she will take care of you. A very nice car to drive in the city. Super tipid at below P500K with 3 year warranty. Saan ka pa. hehehehe

Power locks should include the lock on the lift gate. This will make it convenient pag may inspections sa malls. don't forget to add rear speakers at the rear doors.

Thats it na wala na kailangan ipa mods.

    tnx

    rodski

PS due for 14K km check up yung car ko and aayusin nila yung vibration sa muffler. Waranty.

Is there a wire for the rear speaker already? Balak ko sana DIY na lang buksan ang door panels and put in some speakers.

Yes, 5-door central locking ang ipapalagay if ever. Might also include a dash/console mounted lock/unlock button.

    Otep,

Puwedeng DIY sa wiring. Nakatago sa B pilar yung factory wire for speakers. So al you have to do is add wires to connect to the door up to the speaker. Yung wiring harness sa likod ng radio may mga labels so just follow the color coding.

Suggestion - Isabay mo ang speaker wiring sa pagkabit ng wireless door lock system para walang hirap. Yung sa akin free installation sa kabit ng speaker dahil kinuha ko sa Kia QA and wireless doorlocks.

    Happy Motoring

PS: mayroon na bang accessorie for third brake lights? LED ito pang Europe.

Oh I forgot. The rear speaker hole on the door is 8 inches. Pero ang kasya ay 6.5in na speaker. Hindi nila sinama and spacer tulad ng front speaker para kasya ang 6.5. Magfafabricate ang installer para swak.
