+1 on this. Kia just updated their website and nakasulat na dun yung specs ng new Rio. I'm interested in getting foglamps for my incoming unit as well.

It's also stated as a convenience feature that the side mirrors are heated? Totoo ba ito or false advertising lang ulit?

Yes... can the owners of the 2010 Rio post their fuel consumption here? I've been talking to some taxi drivers and it seems majority of them gave me the thumbs down in terms of fuel consumption. Although they say it really is peppy. Lakas daw talaga ng hatak due to its DOHC engine. Sana nilagyan nila ng CVVT yung engine like its US counterpart who received really high marks for fuel efficiency even if it has higher displacement (1.6L).

Interested din ako kumuha ng RIO A/T. Kung at least 10Km/L city driving and FC nito, pwede na sa akin iyon.

Yeah. The Rio is a nice car to have in this Vios-filled country of ours.

Balita ko dumating na shipment nila. Wait for a few days at baka tawagan ka ng SA mo. Pero IMO, for a not-so-hot brand medyo matagal waiting period nila considering na konti lang sobra bumibili.

The 2010 Rio does not come with any safety features other than the seatbelts. Better tie a pillow to the wheel. But I don't think safety features are all that important given the traffic here in Metro Manila..and note that there was a news article way back where a Subaru Impreza WRX STI, a 2.4M performance car with 6 airbags, ABS+EBD and VDCS (Vehicle Dynamic Control System), even failed to protect its passengers from a crash. IMO, it's down the the driving style of the person if they need safety equipment or not. But for argument sake, the price of the Rio should warrant at least 1 safety feature like dual airbags.

And no, you can't just slap on an airbag since you need an onboard controller for that which I don't think comes with the locally sold units.

Yun nga, I mean for it's price; they should have at least included a driver-side air-bag. True, that with our usual traffic that may seem a useless feature anyways, but hey, you'll never know. Some safety is better than no safety . Plus it supposed to be a modern car right? Isn't an air-bag on the driver-side a standard feature on all modern cars?

KIA Ph should have atl east given that some consideration. That's already a major product flaw on this one if you ask me.

Personally I think it's priced that way because they made a trade-off between safety and power/convenience. They took out the safety stuff but in return you get a bigger displacement engine, all power amenities and more room.. plus if you factor in dealer discounts..the Rio IS STILL the cheapest A/T car you'll find in the market (With the exception of China-made cars).

The only thing I hate about the current Rio..is the ugly steering wheel.

Well on that point I guess you are right, they are still probably the cheapest AT car you'll ever find in the market... for now. And yeh I guess who doesn't want a bigger engine on their car ? Still - if you have a bigger engine then you have a faster car, that being said, shouldn't passenger safety become more of a concern then?

They should have at least given buyers the option to add "air-bags" if they wanted to right?

Agree on the "For now" because Toyota is set to release an A/T version of the Vios 1.3E, I think sometime later this month or April. If the Vios 1.3E M/T is currently selling for 670k, then expect the A/T version to come in 700-720k range so it should be the cheapest A/T car in the market.

I also don't know why the Rio does not come with ABS. I think it should at least have ABS as a basic safety feature. US models come with 6 airbags, here it should have at least 2.

The 2010 Rio comes with an "Eject" button. Bet you don't find that in any other cars in the market.

Saw this on Consumer Guide Auto when I was browsing information regarding the 2010 Rio for the US. The photo was labeled as "Special" so I think even the reviewer didn't know what this was but the image on the cover says it all.

A..so that's what it is. Actually I had no idea what it was but the first thing that came into mind after seeing the graphic was the seat ejecting.

Well..after my friend begged me not to get a Mazda3 I decided to continue with my Kia Rio purchase. Just got my automatic Titanium Silver unit yesterday from Kia Pasay after waiting for 3 months (3 WHOLE MONTHS). So far maayos naman siya..very good handling and the engine can carry the body with relative ease. No comment on FC yet as hinihintay ko muna maubos yung initial pagas ko na half-tank. Some of my insights:

    Pros:
+Very sound quality..from the closing of the doors to the actual assembly feel mo talaga na maganda yung gawa. Nothing feels loose or out of place. Ibang iba na yung korean quality..even the radiator uses dual cooling fans.
+Very good engine..hindi nahihirapan dalhin yung kotse kahit na nakaincline.
+Easy handling..magaan icontrol yung car kahit na naka steel rims.
+Good interior space..kasya ang six footer sa likod kahit six footer yung nasa harap (I know since six footer ako).
+HUGE trunk space..I could probably sleep in it.

    Cons:
-This might be subjective but the glove compartment closes with a click rather than a thud..makes it feel cheap. The glove compartment space is also a bit small compared to other cars of the same class. I put my registration and warranty papers in and it already takes up about a quarter of the space.
-Rear headroom is lacking for a six footer but is acceptable.
-Stock horn sounds like a chipmunk.
-Matagtag although it's probably because of the tire pressure installed by the dealer. Will have to check kung yung suspension ang matigas after adjusting tire pressure.

So far yan muna mga nanotice ko. Even with the lack of safety features it's still a nice car. Pleasing to the eyes thanks to the tiger nose grill. Balak ko kabitan ng spoiler pero o-order pa raw nila from Korea and I inorder ko na. Can't wait to see what I can do with this car.
