[QUOTE=MikkiW;2070870]Sorry for the post. Hindi ko din maaccess ung Tsikot sa Tapatalk. Pero other forums pwede.

    Sorry sa OT:

Wrong assumption ako sa previous post ko. I think this has got something to do with Tapatalk getting updated. Have it updated last Saturday and, just like you, could not access Tsikot forum but could access others. maybe Tsikot needs to update theirs to correct compatibility issue with Tapatalk?

*Tsikot admin, can you look into this, please?

Guys, I only noticed last weekend tapes on the left and right side of "Ganda". What are these tapes for?

All units have that. It's supposed to protect against scratches from small projectiles (stones, rocks, etc) while driving at high speed. I had mine removed right away when I had New Car Paint Protection done at Big Bert's. I agree with IceT. If you have it removed much later, you will notice a discrepancy in the paint color of the covered area since it was not exposed to the elements. Esp if the unit is white like mine. Besides, the areas previously covered by those tapes are still perfect to date (11 months now). I do however have chipped paint on the front bumper, presumably from rocks/pebbles dropping from large trucks one can't avoid following sometimes

Just want to share a problem I had a few months back, and the solution I used. Just in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Upon pulling out the remote from my pocket and pressing the shiny button, I was surprised to discover the key missing. It was inside my pocket. Upon examination, it seems the small hollow retaining cylinder (visible at remote/key junction) somehow became dislodged allowing the key to fall out. I tried turning the key in the ignition by hand but it was very difficult. So I reinserted the key into the remote slot and turned on the ignition. Without the retaining cylinder to keep it snugly in position, the key had wiggle room, and the twisting of the key in the ignition subsequently caused part of the key holder to crack, and eventually be fractured.

I complained to Kia Las Pinas citing a probable factory defect, and asked for a warranty claim. The owner Mr. EC Camacho was (as always) very accomodating and agreed that it shouldn't happen. He filed a claim with Kia (Korea) but later reported that claim was denied, with Kia saying that they never had this problem before (SO?? Kasalanan ko ba yun?) EC again tried to help me by filing another claim for me, making it appear I was another customer, to give the impression it wasn't an isolated incident. After a couple weeks of waiting, same result. DENIED CLAIM. I then found out that the cost of getting a new unit is an astounding 6K!! I'm not gonna pay for that amount! In fairness to EC, he generously offered to split the cost of replacement, but 3K is still too much for me. We (the warranty officer and I) tried to look for a solution to my problem, but all the key duplicators I went to didn't have the kind of blank key needed, and one that did didn't have the machine to carve it. Meron daw machine somewhere in MOA but I didn't bother. What I tried was Pioneer Durasteel steel-filled epoxy: I first prepared the bonding surfaces by roughening them with a dremel grinder bit. Then I put copious amounts inside the cavity, and on the edge of the fractured fragment. After 24 hrs setting, fully bonded. I've tried using it a few times, and it seems to be sturdy enough. But I'm now using the other key/remote, and keeping the repaired one as the spare. FYI lang, heads up

Buti na lang hindi siya naputol yon time na mag start ka ng engine tapos naiwan sa loob ng ignition key cylinder.

share ko lang po yun experience ko about casa body repairs.

I had my rear door fixed at Kia Pasig.

One Kia branch quoted me P7.5k but I got a better deal in Kia Pasig - P3,920.

Basically, the scope of job and supplies quoted are almost the same. Not sure bakit mas mataas dun sa isa.

It comes with 6 months warranty in case magkaroon ng problem sa paint job. I would say na maganda naman ang pagkakagawa nila. Very satisfied customer

Before and after pics Good as new.

    Audible Alarm for Sportage 2013

I would like to ask if the Sportage comes with an audible alarm which is part of the standard parts. How is the alarm activated? I ask because our neighbors car went into alarm mode past midnight earlier which left me wondering whether the Sportage also has the same feature. Thanks.

The metal part of the remote only fractured when I reinserted the key into its original position in the remote (without the retaining cylinder), and used it to turn the ignition on. Di kasi kaya ng kamay lang

*aiko27: The Sportage comes with a factory-installed alarm which is activated upon locking the doors with the remote. It guards against intrusion (opening of doors), and the sound output is through the horns. There is no protection against glass/window breakage (shock). Kaya lang, these days a common modus operandi ng bukas kotse gangs is to break a window to grab any valuables/bags within arm's reach. So pwedeng nanakaw na ang laptop or bag mo, without the alarm going off kasi the doors weren't opened. That's why I opted to have an add-on alarm installed, which provides the extra protection against shock and window breakage. The Code Alarm is integrated into the system, and is activated via the original Kia remote

Thank you dockiks! How much did you spend for the additional alarm, where did you have it installed and how long was the installation process? Too many questions, I know!
