2007 Kia Carens [continued]

I'm no expert when it comes to this but i remember a kia mechanic mention something about oil that might be leaking into the turbo and eventually damaging it (which explains the continuous white smoke and no acceleration). Let's just hope that this is not the case. Pag marumi naman ang egr, usually, black smoke yon at loss of power, at kung minsan, naka 'limp mode' yung sasakyan (meaning hindi umaakyat yung rpm beyond 3k rpm).

My other suspect is that the fuel filter might already be clogged and needs to be replaced. Pero hindi naman ito nag ca cause ng white smoke.

Again, these are just my opinions. it is still best to have it checked at the casa since they have the right tools to diagnose your carens' problem.

thanks sir, yung loss of power sa accelerator was totally hindi tumaas ung rpm even with initial stepping of the accelerator pedal and that was when the white smoke or exhaust was observed. But after a couple of tries, gumagana na2man ulit ung accelerator and the white smoke/exhaust was gone. Sa ngayon observation pa muna, hopefully it wont come back after cleaning EGR and airflow sensor. Hoping somebody had experienced this can share.

BTW ire-attach ko dto yung VGT Solenoid valve...memo and picture of the part....
actually natuwa ako na pinalitan pa din nila kahit out of Warranty na sasakyan...just goes
to show na Kia cares..... pero sad part is halos walang improvement akong naramdaman...
siguro kasi iba cause ng complaint ko....baka EGR cleaning lang sa akin dahil carbon build-up...

Hi sirs,

Mine is 2008 model CRDI a/t carens 25k mileage, pls allow me to post here. The other day lang po, while stoping, bigla nawala ung power ng accelerator, even the rpm hindi gumalaw. then after a couple of on-off ignition (even w/turbo timer, nagoff agad ung engine if switched off), gumana naman ulit ung accelerator. Then i headed straight to the car repair center (not kia), they checked through computer, wala naman error sa codes nakita. They cleaned the air flow sensor ata kc madumi daw but while i was about to pick the car since sbi nila observe lang daw muna, bigla naman bumalik yung problem, no acceleration power and white smoke lumabas sa exhaust.
what could this be? as of now nasa repair shop pa, they are trustworthy naman and have updated machines for checking, although im considering to bringing it sa CASA.. is this the same with the EGR cleaning concerns of other carens owner encountered? I just had a turbo timer installed 2 months ago. Sana naman hindi sira ung turbo ko... any inputs would be great help..

update ko lang status ng carens ko as of this time, hopefully this can help others with similar problem too. The EGR was cleaned even at 25k mileage since the mechanic found out it was dirty. Then also the airflow intake sensor was cleaned since it was also very dirty and when this was done, hindi na bumalik ung loss of power sa accelerator. Hopefully this was the culprit and so far, fingers crossed, sana hindi na bumalik ung problem. Hope this helps.

remember i posted this jerking problem a few months back ( and was guessing it was the ECU since it solved the last time it happened and it occured again after changing my battery ) so i had the chance to bring it sa casa and told them it might be the ECU again and may need an update but they said that once updated hindi na mawawala yun, they also showed me kung gano kausok at high rpm yung carens, i drive max at 2k rpm only they then replaced this solenoid valve at yung usok nawala except yung initial na apak, im still observing yung jerking kung lalabas pa pero so far sa 1st at 2nd gear wala na, sa 3rd gear parang may time na unstable sya, i just had my EGR cleaned last Feb * 60k and my odo is now almost 70k parang its time again to clean the EGR. i want to DIY yung cleaning kaya lang i may not have all the tools i need, baka meron mag post ng tutorial dyan

But after a month feel ko bumabalik yung nawawalan ng power. I am religiously following maintenance skeds. I'm thinking hindi kaya sa engine oil na gamit natin. Kasi ang requirement ng Carens natin (with CPF) is ACEA C3. Pag Carens without CPF is ACEA B4 lang...

advice ko lang sa fellow Carens and other CRDi owners: effective talaga yung Italian tune-up....try nyo once a week high-speed run (o kahit high-rpm run) na mga 1 to 3mins lang.... and try to avoid idling....para prevent ang carbon build-up in the first place....

might be one of the reason kung bakit ang ganda ng FC ko, hehehe, shift early * 1.5k, max speed 100kmh * 2k, averaging 13km/l yun pala may downside , ill try that italian tune up once a week

I've been doing this (high RPM run) every 3 days sa mga steep portions dito sa Baguio. I bibirit ko yung accelerator hanggang umabot ng 4k+ rpm just for a short distance run ..nung una, maitin na makapal na usok ang lumabas. But after sometime, hindi na siya gaano sing itim nung una. Ang kinatatakot ko lang eh baka madaling masira ang turbo sa kaka italian tune up. Pero yun nga napapansin ko medyo gumagaan ang takbo at bumabalik balik yung dating power.

San ba makikita ang Air Flow sensor?

ser Hanren, MAF dapat dun sya gitna ng Air filter box and engine....may parang wires (connected to the sensor) somewhere leading to Intake Manifold where air is mixed fm. Fresh input as well as Return fm. Exhaust (EGR).......

hi guys, anong murang oil ang bagay dito sa carens ? balak ko mag change oil na kasi. isasabay ko na din ang getz crdi. magka pareho naman lang sila ng engine diba?

Nabasa ko kasi sa isang article sa Car and Driver na kailangan nating itakbo sa expressway ang ating Carens once a month or more kung puwede. Ang recommended speed nila para masunog ang carbon sa ating engine/egr e 120kph..about 70mph for 20 minutes. Kaya ganito ang ginagawa ko lagi. Takbo ng Antipolo-Angeles, tapos balik.

So far 104,000 na ang milyahe ko sa odometer e di pa ako nagkaroon ng problema. CRDI EX 2.0 ang ride ko.

per liter of petron REV X all terrain is P490.00

meron na ba sa inyo nagpalit ng tailgate strut(?). bumigay na yung sa akin, hindi na sya mag stay naka open pag binuksan. na rerepair ba yun?

Hi guys, its been a long time a havent visited this forum, i just got back from China and been busy this past few months, anyway, i have a problem with my carens:

1. Loss of power
2. Feeling na pigil ang accelaration from 1st to 2nd
3. Black smoke (minsan meron, minsan wala)

What the kia service center done was:
1. Clean EGR
2. Clean all the hoses
3. Change oil and filter
4. Change fuel filter
5. Drained and change the atf fluid
6. Drained and change the radiator fluid
7. Cleaned the MAF sensor

But the problem is still there.
Went this morning to kia, and they temporary change the MAF sensor and solenoid valve using the MAF sensor and solenoid valve of the other carens that was there (hiniram lang namin temporary), but the problem is still there when we test drive my carens, this pm when i went to fetch the kids at the school, biglang na off ang engine when i was going out of the school.

Any idea or has anybody experienced this kind of problem? Oh and one more thing, this happens if im using A/T mode, if im using +/- manual mode ay may power naman, very weird ang problema ng carens ko, yung ginagawa ko nga ay if pigil ang takbo ay i switch agad to +/- mode and downshift 1 gear and takbo agad si carens.

My odo reading is 36000kms++, and 5yrs old na ito last November, my kia is A/T.
