2007 Kia Carens [continued]

Quick question for carens owners. I recently checked my bother's carens A/C filter since I feel that it's having a hard time cooling the cabin and lo and behold its very dirty that when I turned it upside down, a lot of sand like substance fell. It's odo reading is ~19300kms and is about 4 years old. It's not being used much and I think it's always on recirculate. Now my question, is this normal? We live in the province but our roads are all paved. Manual says to change the A/C filter *20000kms, I'm thinking if I should change it much much sooner say like 10k or 15k? Will having a dirty A/C filter have any long term effect on the A/C system?

May short at long wheelbase versions daw eh so I will assume may 5 at 7 seater na CRDi pa rin. Based daw itong bagong Carens sa platform ng bagong Kia Cee'd at Hyundai i30. Sa Paris Autoshow ito ila launch this last week of Sept so sana dumating na ito sa Pinas sa later 2012 or early 2013 (that is, if CAC decides to do this early).

So far, very limited ang info na nilalabas ng Kia regarding this new Carens..

Yes. Everything. Even extra bumper clips where given but i had the installation done by casa since the car is still under warranty.

TIA i-replace mo na ang AC filter mo, kung okay pa naman ang condition nito at talagang ayaw mong palitan e at least hugasan mo na lang. Yung sa akin e hinuhugasan ko regularly *3K kM. Kuha ka ng isang timbang tubig, tapos lagyan mo ng mild detergent (dishwashing soap or detergent), tapos i-shake mo yung filter sa tubig hanggang sa matanggal yung mga dumi. Tapos noon e patuyuin mo at kapag tuyo na e ikabit mo ulit. Wag mong kakaskasin yung filter at baka mabutas. Pero makikita mo na yung cloth fiber noon e matibay at di basta-basta mapupunit.

Ask lang po ng isang zero knowledge sa car... wala na po lamig ng aircon ng carens namin. would like to seek advise for some DIY inspection before ko pacheck sa shop. 4 yrs n 4 mos old na unit namin, for the past 2 months, nawawala minsan lamig tapos ipapahinga ko lang, bumabalik na. but this time, for the past 2 days, di na bumabalik as in fan na lang pero hina pa rin.

if in case need na talaga icheck ng aircon specialist, any recommendation within sta rosa / binan area?

Ewan ko kung may sumagot na sa iyo, pero ang pinaka-madaling solusyon diyan e tignan mo muna kung yung AC filter e napalitan na..Kung regular na napalitan at di lumalamig, at wala na sa warranty e puwede mo namang patignan sa mga AC specialist na nasa tabi ng daan. Kung may major part na dapat palitan e saka mo dalhin sa mas malaking AC shop, katulad ng SERVITEK o RAPIDE..

Kung nasa warranty pa e siyempre dalhin mo sa KIA dealer..

thats cheap kung 3-4k nga lang, anyway i inquired from the seller at order basis nga lang, bad thing is ang kailangan ko stalk lang na may fog lamp switch, hindi ata pwede yun lang, dapat set ang kunin

Installation was done at Kia Balai in sto Tomas batangas (since I'm from the mentioned province). Will have to check the receipt to give you the exact amount. Let me get back to you on that.

ganyan problema ng aircon ko. dinala ko sa kia pampanga, sabi nila wiring problem. ilang months na akong naghihintay para i replace yung wiring hanggang ngayon wala pa. balak ko sana ipa repair nalang sa labas.

Update: Nakuha ko na rin sa wakas ang Carens ko back from overhaul.

The following are all new: all 4 pistons, one liner (machine shopped), crankshaft, turbo, timing belt and tensioner, oil pan, all four glow plugs (not cheap. casa claimed three plugs needs to be replaced *2k each, ended up replacing all 4).

In addition to that, I also replaced the clutch disk, pressure plate, and tensioner bearing. Casa quoted me 28k but I purchased it (all OEM) from a local dealer at P16,500.

The EGR was also cleaned. I noticed medyo tahimik ulit ang makina. Since the EGR was cleaned and a new turbo was installed, I was advised to update/reset the ECU (as the casa didn't have the update tool) in another casa in order to reduce turbo lag.

The A/C is disconnected and will be reconnected during the 1,000 kms change oil. So for now, it will have to be broken in for the first 1,000 kms. So wala muna hataw mode.

So far, it was worth the more than 2 months wait. Kudos din sa Malayan Insurance for the quick action on my claim.

Nagkaganyan na din carens namin. On off ang lamig. Pinalitan ang magnetic clutch ng compressor. Under warranty pa ito nung nangyari. Actually, ako ang nag suggest sa kasa mechanic na baka magnetic clutch ang sira since may nabasa ako dito sa thread na similar situation.
