June 25th, 2008 08:37 PM #2053With the price of Kia Carens now? I would probably buy an Innova.
I have also driven Toyotas since I started driving,
I drove my dad's 1964 toyota crown, my brother's 1980 toyota corona
and my 2003 altis G a/t.
Toyotas are very reliable and I was and still am very satisfied with their performances.
I bought my Carens crdi lx a/t just this May 2008 because of its crdi and vgt tech but the price has gone too high already. It may not be worth it.
alagad.

June 26th, 2008 01:06 AM #2054well, to the people at Columbia:
You just lost 2 sure sales for the carens with your price increase. (I am guessing there are quite a big number of people who changed their mind about purchasing the carens because of the HUGE price increase but what I am saying here are people I know, who for a fact, will likely buy the car). I did convinced a relative and a friend to choose the carens over the innova but with the current price increase, they said that 110K is just too much and I couldn't easily say to them now that the carens is the better buy without thinking twice... oh well. No doubt in my mind, the carens is the better car but hey... 110K is not a small amount of money.
I do hope something could be done about these price increase, the timing is not so good. Sana nag antay pa sila ng a year or 2 for the carens to gain more ground, convince people that its not only good but also reliable; then saka sila nag taas. I'd love to see more carens on the road sana... oh well.

June 26th, 2008 08:17 AM #2055Grow the market or be opportunistic with early demand?
Not to rub salt to injury, but the decision to increase local prices for the Carens in its early going will make would-be buyers shun from purchasing. Low market volume makes current owners' total cost of ownership higher and resale value lower. This cycle puts Kia or CAC at risk, or at least would encounter the biggest hurdle, in increasing its local market share in the compact MPV segment.
Read an article in Gulf Weekly about Kia promos in Bahrain:
http://www.gulfweeklyworldwide.com/a...&Article=19551
This article states promo prices of Kia vehicles. Carens particularly sells at 6,000 Bahrain Dinars. Could be a net price and even considering the different "source-to-trade-to-ownership channel" cost factors between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.....the price converts to PHP709,423.00....yes, you read right, seven hundred nine thousand and four hundred twenty-three pesos!
I neither have bias for the Carens nor Kia and I believe in its promise...if packaging for the market is right. Pricing is part of the package in the local compact MPV segment market.

My wife and I went to San Fernando, Pampanga yesterday - marking it as the first time that my Carens set foot on NLEX...
Ang sarap talaga i-drive yung Carens! I was lazily cruising at 120kph and slowing down to 100kph at certain points (being mindful of the radar stations along NLEX). At that speed, I felt like I was under-utilizing the Carens... I was SOOOOOO tempted to step on the gas and speeding down the NLEX but my wife kept on telling me... "The speed limit is the maximum, not a recommendation" as stated in NLEX's giveaway flyer... Hahahaha!

At the end of the day its still a business. If their costs are going up they have to pass it on. Now Kia has to either lower their costs somehow (maybe outsource?) or in this case they passed it on. Now its up to the consumers to decide if its worth the money against all the other options out there....

June 26th, 2008 11:57 AM #2058Perhaps one of the reasons why CAC increased the Carens' prices is because it's now currently the AUTOMOBILE OF THE YEAR!!!
Much as I would like to have my Carens branded as the AoftheY, I am now rethinking my voting position.
Guys, any comments???

Wala naman yang kinalaman dyan for sure. On the contrary dapat pa nga they advertised it more heavily and kung kaya lower the price para magkaroon na talaga ng impact sa marketplace.
Atsaka yung poll by Autofocus is just garbage and is not credible to be honest. What kind of poll allows people to vote over and over again? So lumalabas pataasan lang ng ihi yung mga fanbois. IMO mas convincing yung sa mga journalist groups like CAGI...
