potpot2, tama si okidok you need to observe, learn and understand how the engine response... most importantly you have to understand the capabilities of this car.
Mine is an XUVi A/T... at normal shifting the last shift at 2.2k RPM is around 55 to 60kph... pero pag nagmamadali ka it shifts at 2.5k RPM or higher and speed could be at 45 to 50, and in both cases that's where the low charge turbo kicks in... mabilis umakyat ang speed to 80kph, which is okay na...80-100kph or higher is another technique you need to learn.

hindi ko alam kung alin ang nagsasabi ng totoo dito, yon kasing kakilala namin dati may xuvi after a year di na nakatiis binenta dahil ang bagal at lakas daw sa diesel, kaya pinalitan ng dmax at so far ok naman daw ang dmax,as trade don din sa dealer, gave us an advice na wag talaga kayong kukuha ng crosswind, kasi nitong feb lang muntikan na kaming bumili. i can even ask his number para ma confirm ninyo sa kanya.

our xuvi is very fuel efficient, maybe it depends on how your driving habit is. For me 12-15 kms per liter with the aircond on is not bad.

    yep matipid talga.

update ko lang... am going 176,000+ kms na, and my fuel consumptions still averages at around P12+KM/liter averaging 78+km/day Mixed highway and city driving. on highways, best record is about 16km/liters; havent had my engine recalibrated pa, although lately, medyo experienceing nako ng rough idling. But it may be due to non-adjustment of my valve tappets. Lately not been using biodiesel since meron na supposedly BD ang diesel from all pumps.
my muffler manifold broke again (for the 4th or 5th time?) and I finally had an flexible pipe installed. hopefully this will finally solve the muffler issue.

as for offroad capability, basta ba wag lang idadaan sa matinding putikan, even the xto can do semi offroad. sayang talga at di nila ginawan ng 4x4 version, the crosswind could have been a nice offroad vehicle. pero siguro mahal na sobra kung meron man

Tama. Test Drive mo na lang kung alin ang mas-ok, yon ang kunin mo.

I think merong thread na Alterra vs. Fortuner. Search for that thread and do some reading para meron ka ng initial information.
