2007 A/T Crosswind: Is the mileage still pretty darn good?
kurek!kahit ano gawin, matatag talga crosswind. that's the downside. the "upside" of that is... kahit puno yung likuran mo, hindi titingala yung hood ng crosswind when it's fully loaded. unlike the mitsu adventure. and swabe na suspension when the crosswind is fully loaded, the rear leaf springs does its job well. at least that's the feedback of a fellow driver who got to ride at the rear when we were travelling.
It's different. It's very different.
Example: Crosswind MT versus Crosswind AT, parehong XUVi. Yung XUVi MT namin, mga 30-35 seconds from 0-100 km/h. Yung XUVi AT, mga 45 seconds from 0-100 km/h.
Also, malaking bagay kung saan yung review.

teka teka... cool lang kayo mga pre. wag natin pag-awayan yung overtaking capability or anything at baka ma-close itong thread na to. as the starter of this thread, I would'nt want this closed coz in a sense, may sense of ownership ako sa thread na 'to and I want sana na discussion about crosswind issues, tips and sharing of ideas lang ang ma-discuss dito.
now, on the issue about overtaking, IMHO, malaking bagay yung 5 to 10 seconds delay, specially sa highway driving. sa stop-and-go traffic, maybe the AT and MT crosswinds may not have much trouble accelerating or making singit, but a 5 second delay in highway overtaking could already mean life and death.
simple computation pre, a car travelling at 80km/hr is travelling at 22.2 meters per second. The crosswind XUV is about 4.7 meters in length. So in one second, you've already passed about 5 crosswinds or 5 car lengths assuming the car you're passing is stationary. If the car you're passing is travelling at 70 km/hr, then by simple math, you'd need about 2 seconds to safely pass him.
we can compute and argue about this issue to kingdom come, in the end, the best thing to do is to compare it sa field, .... test drive![]()
so let's not argue anymore mga pre... peace out na.
now going back to issues about the crosswind. anyone here already changed their tie rod ends? ang tip ko sa inyo, if you do need to change the tie rod ends, change the whole assembly - Isama nyo na rin yung tie rod bar, not just the ends. I had a near-miss incident because of this. I changed the tie-rod ends but did not change the tie rod bar. What happened was, eventually, the tie-rod bar got disconnected from the new tie rod end (after a lil' over a year), because the threading on the tie rod bar was already worn and it slipped out of the tie-rod end. Very dangerous had it happened while I was driving high speed. fortunately for me, it happened while i was maneuvering out of our grassy garage. Medyo mahal nga lang yung assembly, but put it in perspective, ano ang mas mahal? yung tie-rod assembly or yung magpagawa ng kotse dahil nabangga ka or worse, yung magpa-ospital ka dahil naaksidente ka..or far even worse... errr... basta yun na.
so again...peace out mga bros. let's get back to the issues and topic of this thread.
The problem is this. I have test-driven these vehicles. In total, I've got about 50,000 - 60,000 kilometers worth of driving on four different Hilanders, an SL MT, an XTRM (or is that XTO?) AT, an XUVi MT and an XUVi AT.
In my experience in mixed urban, highway and mountain driving, the manual Crosswind accelerates faster. Period.
------
RE: 2.0 consumption. I've had three 2.0 cars, and I've driven a whole bunch of others. I've averaged 7 - 8 km/l in traffic in my MT 626, 8 - 9.5 km/l in my MT Lynx 2.0, and about 6 - 7 km/l in my previous 2.0 AT Sentra. My uncle's 2.0 Civic AT gets about 6 - 7, too. Maybe "Expedition level" is an exaggeration, but the effects of transmission type on fuel consumption isn't imaginary, nor is it negligible in Metro traffic. (that's the last Off-topic for me)

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
We own (and are about to get rid of) the XUVi MT (115,000 kms). The XUVi AT is my uncle-in-law's, and I drive it sometimes when we stay over. The SL was my Dad's, and I stole it from him......for use as a delivery vehicle (138,000 kms and counting). The XTO AT (I'm pretty sure now) was the special pearlescent green edition. It's also my Dad's, and I drive it sometimes when I'm visiting him.
To be honest, convenient talaga ang automatic transmission, but it's somewhat lacking when overtaking on fast provincial roads. On clear highways or in the city, it's less of a problem, but it's sometimes hard to merge onto EDSA or the SLEX safely.

Good Day po sa lahat. I Would like to ask your suggestions regarding the Alarm System for Xwind XT. We'll be having our unit delivered next week and since the XT model does'nt have the Alarm System and Remote Keyless entry, ano pong brand ang maganda? Or can we ask the dealer to add these features with an additional cost? Its our first brand new car kasi and im not so familiar pa sa mga cars..
Would be glad to hear your suggestions fellow tsikoters...
Thanks...![]()
Just get one outside... the integrated one isn't the best there is, and it's problematic, too.
I'm not familiar with the new aftermarket brands, though...

I can suggest one good place. 3k lang two years ago wala akong problem. Third time ko na bumili on 3 different vehicles. Dahil nakamura ako bumili pa ako extra remote.
Nissan Quezon Ave accesory store nila.
A manual Sportivo should be able to hit 140 km/h on the NLEX or Skyway. But you should be careful, as there isn't enough suspension control to to keep you planted if you hit a big one at those speeds. And without ABS, you're in danger of locking the brakes in an emergency.
A Crosswind is most comfortable at 80 km/h on most roads. That's the best speed to attain 14-16 km/l on the highway, too.![]()

thank you for the reply sir niky , i really apreaciate it. sir like sa adventure or auv na rim14 as compared to rim15, with regards to the speedometer, if iyung auv na rim15 is running at 120kph, would it be around 130kph kapag rim14 ang nakakabit? wala pa lang kasing budget but i really would like to change the tires to bigger size like 245/75r15 para mas medyo stable sa road but would it mean that the speed again would have a change? thank you sirs
Use this: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to see the difference.
Stability on the road is dependent on both the width: "245" and the height/profile: "75". Generally, wider tires are more stable, but are more susceptible to hydroplaning (nadudulas pag dumaan sa puddles) and tramilining (makulit pag maalog yung kalye). Tires with lower profile are generally more stable, but more susceptible to damage from potholes.

thank you again sir, you've help a lot regading my inquiries, pudpurin ko na lang muna gulong ko, sayang rin
and have just read , happy birthday sir![]()
