Baka Goodyear EffiecientGrip SUV ipalit ko na tires sa GS. 225/70r16
treadwear ay 440.
Load rating is 103
Kumho PorTran KC53 ang model ng gulong
215 70R16C 108/106T
I was a rider yesterday and I should say that it was no different from the original Hankook tyres.
I asked our company driver, how's the braking performance and he told me, the same with the old tyres.
Our (personal) GS still has the original Hankook tyres, btw.
talking about tires.. i saw an isuzu n series truck delievering tires to my suki tire shop with low profile r16 tires. heheh.. anyone ever tried checking up on the load ratings for them. the info i manage to get was yung nga lang R16.. kasi nag madali na ang driver..
I have just checked. The specs of the Kumho Tyres I posted yesterday is exactly the same as the OEM Hankook RA08 Tyres I have in our GS
* sir ron
Yung load rating talga na mataas ang mahirap hanapin sa gs but as mentioned di naman pang kargahan so ok lang
Yung oem na 108 load index ia good for 1ton per tire
And yung 102 is good for 850kg per tire so thats 3400kgs total
And since gs is aprox 2200kgs may remaining 1200kgs pa for load
But having a higher load index may be better for that extra buffer zone

In that case its safe to say na ok pa din yung 102 load index sa 225 or 235 in our gs

On the brochure, GS's curb weight is 2,204 kgs and gross weight is 2,770 kgs.
With these load indices:
Load Index Chart
So, parked it's 2,204 kgs / 4 tires is 551 kg per tire. So at the very least the tire should have a Load index of 88 (560 kgs).
Say you usually have a driver and a passenger weighing about 150 lbs each (136 kg total), then it's 2,340 kgs or 585 kg per tire. At least 90 load index.
If you have a total of 9 occupants at say 150 lbs average (614 kg total), it's about 705 kg per tire or at least 96 load index.
I agree with fast lane, 102 should be safe enough even if loaded. For my 18s, I had been on 235/50 with a 97 load index for over 2.5 years. Sure it wasn't fully laden most of the time -- average of 2,400 kgs half of the time, or much less for others. Treadwear was the issue for the tire change though. I'm now using 101 load index on 235/50r18.
Hi bratski,
Now using Sailun Atrezzo ZS+. Pumped up to 45 psi cold all around.
How about you, how much air do you have in your 18s? Oh, and where did you source your 18s?
How much did you get those sailun tires sir? I bought mine (nankang sp5) for around 5800 each at marikina. I have these tires for a little over a year now. Same tire size as yours 235/50-18. Im a little worried about the 97 load rating as i sometimes load my starex whenever i go out of town. I usually pump in 38 psi front and 40psi at the back. Honestly ride comfort suffered from the stock 16s. Im currently at 37psi all around to minimize bounciness hehe.

Freddie's Tire Supply along Evangelista. Not sure if they have 55 series though. You can ask them (888-0394) na lang. Ok naman ang 50 series sa akin, it's slightly bigger than the Dunlop LM703 they replaced. What I don't like is the look of the 55 series on our 6 spoke rim design.
