How do you compute for your fuel efficiency?

BR-V after a month of use with 1,268KM mileage has 8.4KM/L FC on display.

May effect kaya yung Auto mode nung AC?

Once pa lang nag SLEX to Laguna. Mostly, San Mateo-Batasan Road, Commonwealth, C5, McKinley Road, Ayala Ave, Ayala to Trinoma via EDSA, QC Elliptical Road ang travel...

Your AC use has no discernible effect on your FC. Primary factor for FC is still traffic conditions. Since you drive mostly in the city, 8.4 km/L is reasonable.

Try to verify as well with an actual full tank computation to see how accurate your MID is.

    Just a few questions:

    1. What's the total distance traveled in each of your 2 measurements?

    2. How does the traffic compare between the 2 measurements? Most objective and quantifiable way to compare is the average speed logged between both measurements.

    3. What is the full tank to full tank computation for both measurements?

I ask these because these are all variables that may have affected your fuel consumption. Yes you choose to believe that only the AC is your independent variable, but these factors (distance traveled, average speed, etc) can also be independent variables.

Basic grade school science dictates that you should only have one independent variable and you should be able to hold all other factors as constants in order to have a proper experiment. Otherwise, it's erroneous to say that the difference in FC is attributable only to one factor.

Lastly, I ask the actual FC based on full tank method because MID computations are known to be inaccurate especially for short distances.

Yung isa full tank tapos 1/4 yung isa. Kaya mababa yung isa dahil nag drive thru pa ako.

MID Trip Average Fuel Consumption is calculated using
    Vehicle Speed (VSS)
    Intake Air Temp (IAT)
    Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)
    Engine RPM

So how many km did you travel to get to those measurements?

And how many liters did you fill up? Or did you just use the MID and reset it after 8 km (as per your trip meter)?

Naka set sa auto reset per trip yung B. Trip A yung naks set per fill up. 8km/l sa MID pero wala pa 10 liters. Unbelievable yung number eh. Madaya yung fuel tank dahil may limiter kaya impossileng mapuno. Tapos yung gauge may delay yung bawas pero yung dagdag wala.

I wouldn't consider 81 km and less than 10L filled up as conclusive.

For city driving, I would usually ensure at least half a tank or roughly 200 km before filling up again. And I would do this several times to verify the authenticity of the data.

To anyone else reading deserst0rm's posts, I hope you take into consideration how grossly unscientific his methodology is. Very prone to spikes and variances because distance travelled is too short, liters filled is too few, and measurements were only done with one fill-up.

Yan 200km, another 200km ubos yang 3/4 na yan. Kaya mag15km/l kung naka econ cruise control. Napakabagal nga lang.

BS. I've done 200 km with a quarter tank, and another 200 km by the time it's gotten to half. Your first 200 km was probably highway driving then the next 200 km was city driving, so obviously the consumption between the 2 legs would be different.

First and foremost though, the graduation in the fuel gauge isn't 100% linear. A manual computation is still more accurate in determining true fuel mileage.

Stop bastardizing objectivity and the scientific process just to fuel your obviously erroneous hypothesis.
