I have a lot of officemates with CRV 2.4 SXs. Mas malakas sa gas vs the 2.0 gas. 2.4 gets 5-7 km/L in city driving. 2.0 gets 6-8 km/L.

I own a 2016 model, CRV 2.0. I'm averaging around 7-9km/L, mixed highway and city (I live at Bacoor, Cavite). Mejo rev hungry sya and parang labored during uphill with full load. Its my first time owning a V-tech Honda.
Ganun ba talaga? Purchased this unit used few months back. Feeling ko lang mabigat sya for its engine.

Siguro after few years, try ko naman Mazda CX5. Your thoughts?

all vehicles going uphill will downshift and use a higher rpm. hindi naman aabot ng redline yan. anything below the redline is ok.

if one is aggressive with their stepping on the silinyador,
gas consumption will probably be higher.

I also have a 2.0 CRV (2018 2.0S CVT). Rev-happy talaga siya and yes the car feels too heavy for the engine at full load.

The 2.4 has much more low-end torque but even if the engine feels less stressed, mas malakas pa rin consumption niya.

Best to get a 1.6 diesel CRV or 2.2 diesel CX5 if you want a car that feels effortless to drive and is fuel efficient.

Do you want something effortless to drive with around similar fuel consumption as a CRV 2.4L? Opt for a Subaru XT. I get around 6-7 km/L on city routes and 10-12 km/L on the highway. Spirited driving on the highway gets me around 10 km/L with cruising speeds way above the speed limit (150-180 km).

AWD vehicles will always need more fuel than a similar vehicle with FWD. AWD has more weight and power is distributed across all 4 wheels. Unlike FWD in which the vehicle just needs to drive the front 2 wheels. AWD vehicles also require more maintenance - gear oil for both front and rear axles every 40k km.

If you want a CUV which is fuel efficient, just like what Jut suggested - a diesel CRV or diesel CX5 or a diesel Sportage/Tucson will be your pick.

Muntik na ko mag FXT sa totoo lang. Na-intimidate lang ako sa maintenance -wala kasi ako alam/ experience sa Subaru. Nag decide ako to go for Honda para lang safe. Pero I would love to own one, specially 2013-2017 model.

Wala naman pinagkaiba maintenance ng Subaru sa Honda. Kami sa bahay, pareho may Honda at Subaru.

My first try at calculating long drive fuel consumption.

Car: Honda Civic FD 2.0s AT 2009
Route: Bataan Roman Superhighway -->SCTEX-->TPLEX --> Rosario --> Baguio (through Palispis/Aspiras or Marcos Highway) --> Back to Pugo, La Union
Gas consumed: 27.11L ( Petron XCS)
Km driven: 328.1
Calculated consumption: 12.10 km/L

Pretty good na for me since 2.0 makina niya. certain stretches sa SCTEX abot din ako 120-130 kph. tapos 50-60 lang sa Marcos highway.

Don’t believe even those fuel efficiency tests. I have an Accent crdi, considered one of the most fuel efficient cars but, way, way off the touted 29 km/lit being advertised by HARI. I was able to get 41 km/lit before, going down Ben Palispis road from Baguio all the way down with the throttle closed Pag dadayain, ganun mangyayari.

Whenever I borrow the CRV diesel I get 10 plus km/L in light to moderate traffic. I don't drive with a fuel saving mindset though.

Just purchased a 2013 Honda Jazz 1.5 automatic. I'm getting 8km/l on city driving with light traffic. I was expecting at least 10km/l. My 3rd gen Rav4 with 2.4 engine have the same fuel consumption. No problem with the Jazz and when I google it, there are also complaints of high gas consumption.

That’s a bit high for a Honda L15. Check your air filter and intakes. Maybe the air filter needs replacement and the intakes need cleaning.

Are you running stock tires? If you’re using bigger rims with wide tires, it will also increase fuel consumption.

in my old sentra, it took me over 10K km, for that km/li figure to go up from 6-7, to 10.
i was also dis-heartened at first, thinking i had gotten a lemon.
