PPVs still have more durable underchassis and still have bigger bodies which, though inefficient because of the ladder frame, still ends up with more cargo space than the biggest CUVs (Forester and CRV).
And perhaps most importantly to many buyers - mas macho pa rin tingnan ang PPV.
Even with Honda's sweet spot pricing, brand equity, and feature packed offerings, I don't think the other PPVs will be wiped out of the competition.

When it comes to reliability
Bakit dito sa pinas pangit quality and sirain daw korean cars?
But in US market
Kia rank #5 while hyundai is #7 in reliability

Both jut703 and walter have vaild points.
Seriously, mahirap siguro i-convince ang mga PPV owners to switch to CUV kasi nasanay na sila doon eh. Hahanap-hanapin nila ung mga wala sa CUV na meron sa PPV nila.
Pero kung first time buyer (like me), medyo mahirap pumili.
When PPV owners drive a crossover, they will immediately prefer it over their PPV ... but, given a choice, they will still buy a PPV ...
We shall soon see when the diesel Honda CR-V comes out on PH market ...
i have both, everest and sorento. no preference. kung alin ang may laman ang tanke yun ang gamit ko.
if i prefer to use one over the other it is because of purpose. farm, everest. fast round trip to the province, sorento. and if i don't have any now and can only afford to buy one of course i'll buy the vehicle that serves both purposes - ppv. a cuv is a city and hiway car. a 4x4 ppv can go anywhere (well, almost). a awd cuv, no. especially not a crv.
sa tingen ma wipe out ng CRV ang sales ng MUX saka Everest, coz yun brv imagine gasoline yun pero 7 seater mabentang-mabenta, eto pa kayo na honda diesel 7 seater. it's really up to HCPI, of they price too high yun V, pwde langawin entire crv line. butkayanga may V yan ready to conauer yan Honda sa market share. what is the magic number of V, SRP of 1.4M ++, sira na ang buong PPV oligopoly. if Crv succeeds, then Mazda might bring in the 4x2 cx5 next year. so who next Subaru diesels or RAV4 diesel. if Hari sees the succees of Crv, all they need to do is cuthroat the crv by 100-150k , and if you can see in the hyundai thread babanat na ang hari coz they are installing touch HU and reverse cam sa GL model by this month at no extra price, i think Hyundai already has the data on how to join the diesel suv race coz pf their success with the Hyundai accent crdi in taking market share from Vios.
driving a diesel crossover is nothing new to some of us owners of Korean crdi crossovers, pero once the masa gets a taste of the crv, how smooth and how manuverable it is sa traffic and having the same economy, i think most will be startruck with crv. kasi dba yan naman complain ng madami new PPV owners, bat daw ang tagtag. i think crv has a potential market killer here. and who knows balang araw we wont differentiate the two PPV or cross, basta 7 seater diesel it will all be that simple na lang.
4x4 PPV lang yan can go anywhere faf? but with majority of PPv owners here in the philippines who bought 4x2, tingen ko advantage lang nila eh rainy season this time or baha season. eh ilan months lang yun 3 mos in a year. while crossover suv owner enjoya the comfortability of Crv all year round. sometimes, kasi pag pressured ka sa work, ang sarap din nakasakay ka sa bed while going home with traffic, it relaxes you and gives postive aura after a gruelling day at work. pero PPV, habang nagluluma yan lalo bumibigat yan sa driving. kaya lalo ka mapapakaim mg kanin pag uwi, 3 gatang 4 na gatang, it depends on how heavy you aging PPV is, so lalo ka lang tataba, di ka pa na relieve sa work stress kasi mag stress eatin ka. unlike pag CRV, para ka na din pumunta sa isang Japanese zen massage place every after work
If Nissan marketed the current Xtrail with the turbo diesel engine of the Navarra, they could have outplayed Honda in this category.

I think the NP300's 2.5 diesel is too heavy for the X-trail. That would make the weight biased too much at the front.
Europe only diesel engines include a 177ps/380Nm 2.0 and a 130ps/320Nm 1.6. Sadly Nissan seems to think the Asian market is too small and perhaps too competitive (maybe because of PPVs) to produce the diesel engines here.
I would certainly get one. FC is my only complaint with our X-trail.
Here in the Philippines, Hindi reliable yung dealer ng Kia at Hyundai. They charge exorbitant prices for service and parts. Dapat pantay pantay lang. Service crews were not properly trained also
