25% loss in horsepower gains you an 11% savings in FC .... ok ba iyon?

The old one is also 9 speed. This is the review of the previous gen na diesel:

He doesn't recommend the low powered diesel. Too slow daw.

I think it's not directly proportional as you are not utilizing 100% horsepower all the time.

Cost should also be factored in since the higher tuned engine cost more.

I just heard Honda people on the radio just now who are in-charge of this CRV trims configuration and discussed these concerns. They surveyed the market demands and more buyers want betrer efficiency than top speed.

I am one of them because we will be using the CRV as 7 seater and I dont want more than 180kph. I wanted better FC that is why we wanted diesel on the first place.
I am also a fan of Honda sensing since we are after safety for this family car.

Pero same reasoning as mechatronics, it's a family car. Kaya kahit pangit ng itsura, ito pa rin ang pinili namin.

As for the price, yeah makakabili ka na ng PPVs. Pero wifey doesn't want a big car.

Pero kung ang presyo ng CX-5 diesel is 1.8M, i might go with the CX-5.

how did you guys find the reliability of the last gen CRV? I bought kasi 2 first gens and one 2nd gen. The first one was fairly reliable. The latter two was medyo lemons especially the last one. Lahat ata nasira, alternator, power windows, headlights, transmission (leak). engine rubber cushion etc. Really interested in the new one though. One other major problem with the 2nd gen was the suspension was so stiff because nilagyan ng extra seats sa likod. Any thoughts if the new one will share the same problem?

Sorry I left out the part where it says CR-V

Last week’s Inquirer Motoring provided a lot of details about Honda’s latest model, the recently unveiled CR-V. The big news? Honda now offers a 9-speed automatic and a diesel engine dubbed i-Dtec, displacing 1.6 liters and delivering 160 ps and 350 Newton meters of torque. You also get a 1.5 liter petrol-powered variant, same as what’s found under the current Civic RS. Obviously, financial constraints limit everyone to buying a CR-V.

I say this from a fb comment:

120hp is fine in a crossover
Sa mga nagcocomment dito na "underpowered" and "detuned"
Toyota Fortuner 2005 to 2011 says hi with 102hp
Nissan Urvan (last gen) says hi with 75hp
Isuzu Crosswind says Hi with 85hp
Hyundai Strarex TCi says Hi with 101 hp

I hope may test drive na.

Also heard from my agent na nag pahiram daw ng units for review sa top gear phils.

agree 120hp would be enough. it's just that we know there's a 160hp version which would have been sweeter

im sure crvs will occasionally be used for long drives and cruising speeds will be much smoother for 160hp engine.

Interesting thread, to say the least

Excise tax dilemma like some of you so thinking about buying a car one year too early. Does anyone know where the diesel variants are displayed? May unit pa ba sa Megamall?

V variant is priced well so I just want to see if viable option nga tong Cr-v, in terms of cargo space. Dont mind the low HP too. Bonus na yun efficiency and creature comforts.
