Does the Honda 1.6 i-DETEC diesel engine have VTEC/variable valve timing?

Konte lang all new Civics on the road. Negligible market share. A lot admired but only a few bought it.

Among compacts though, it has become more common on the streets like the current Altis and Mazda 3. Despite its release on the 2nd half of last year, you can see more it compared to the Nissan Sylphy, Focus Ecoboost sedan, new Elantra, and new Forte sedan.

Not because the Civic is a flop, but because the market has shifted away from compact sedans compared to a decade ago.

If they just needed a sedan, they'll get a Vios/City/subcompact. Most people don't need the extra power of compact cars. Subcompacts today come with most of the features that compacts have. The extra space isn't appreciated by many, and those who need space will get an MPV like the Mobilio/Avanza/BRV instead.

Then there's the influx of small CUVs like the Ecosport and Juke. From a subcompact, instead of going for a bigger sedan, they go to a taller subcompact. Tall ride height is actually a plus factor for many car buyers.

Those with extra money will most often than not forgo a TOTL compact and go for a bigger, more practical PPV. For the price of a Civic RS, you can get an MU-X. More buyers appreciate the diesel engine, durability, macho looks and 7 seats of PPVs compared to the features, refinement, power, and handling of compact sedans.

All told, the compact sedan which was the mainstay of Philippine roads in the 90s has become a niche market today.

That said, the Civic tops that small niche despite not having a sub-1M variant and an expensive TOTL.

    2017 sales:
    1. Civic - 2,154 (42%)
    2. Altis - 2,078 (40%)
    3. Mazda 3 - 635 (12%)
    4. Sylphy - 128 (2%)
    5. Focus - 82 (2%)
    6. VW Golf - 80 (2%)
    Total: 5,157

tapos ambaba pa ng resale value nyan. say for example a City at 900K and a Civic at 1.2M. pagdating sa used market, yun city 500K, yun civic 550K. grabe luge! tapos mas bibilin pa yun city kasi nga perception mas matipid maintain at sa fuel consumption.

Yup. The secondhand market is a great place to buy compacts and midsize sedans.

I bought my Mazda 3 2.0R for roughly the same price as a Vios 1.5. 😂

Absolutely right. My friend got a Sorento crdi AWD at the price of a vios. Under warranty pa at tsaka low mileage.

Anyways, let's hope this crv will help Honda lift their sales past Isuzu. Medyo tumaas na rin Ang price ng mux. Ang lakas ng benta nila eh.

Pila pa rin. But I heard shipments were coming this Aug and Sep so that should free up the backlog.

Honda did a good job with the deliveries of the facelifted City which were on the roads right after it was launched.

As with all highly-anticipated models, the CRV's availability will be very critical to its success. Obviously interest is high, but they'll need actual stocks if they want to convert that interest to real sales.

Medyo nag tataka nga lang ako sa marketing strategy ng Honda front and center ang diesel sa advertising tapos ang initial batch e puro gas? I'm sure they tought long and hard about bringing the diesel here maybe in the then then they could have arranged to have made diesel units available at launch also.

Yes S model. Walang SX model but I like it for having more ground clearance and of course the panoramic sunroof. Pangatlo na ko sa reservation pero walang discount.. I checked yung BR-V after 3 months nagkaron na sya cash discount eh. Kaya pag nauna ka no discount...

I hope you don't mind but this is not the right place to promote whatever product you are selling. Maybe you can ask the site admin to have you post a proper ad.
