that shouldn't be too difficult to investigate.
"on what lane did the crumpling occur?"

The damage is on both passenger side of the vehicles both the truck was stopped straight in the opposing lane pointing in the correct direction(*0:25). The driver falling asleep at the wheel came from a testimony of a surviving passenger. The driver would be the only who could refute that if he ends up recovering from his injuries(the 5 DOA were all his passengers)

It is insensitive to say this but from the photos of the cabin it looks like (the driver seat(*0:35) looks similar to an IIHS test with an unbelted rear passenger) some of the occupants were unbelted and feels that could have made a difference to the outcomes of the second/third row occupants.

Otherwise this seems like a seat/restraint issue that TMP should be looking into for a potential defect

    yep.
it's a double line at the center.
but traffic signage don't mean a thing, to DUIs.

    my only explanation here,
is that the crumpled vehicle's driver veered off so much, he ended up on the rightmost lane of the oncoming truck, hitting the truck on its right side.

it also shows just how much heavy metal a truck is made with, compared to any suv.
while suvs are designed to collapse to weaken the impact, heavy trucks are designed to resist all manner of external deformation.

Accident happened in Batangas and news report says they were coming all the way from Northern Samar.
That's a very long drive (IIRC 19-20 hours to Manila) and one I wouldn't do without an overnight stop along the way or a co-driver I can swap with.

EU bawal na to drive more than 9 hours in a day, 11 hours for the US.

And yeah, buckle up even when seated at the back. I'd say 99% of people here use seatbelts only when seated at the front.

Matic po no overtaking sa bridge since there are no shoulders to accommodate evasive maneuvers, the bus drivers very well knows this as they are heavily penalized when caught overtaking on the bridge.

The driver now to be charged reckless imprudence resulting in homicide after the bank client pinned at the corner passed away from her injuries.

A BANK client died while six other persons were injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a branch of Banco de Oro (BDO) in Quezon City Thursday afternoon.

Rosali dela Cruz, a bank client, succumbed to severe injuries while being treated at the Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

De la Cruz was among the seven injured people who were brought to several hospitals for medical treatment after a Toyota Fortuner crashed into the bank’s branch along Quirino Highway in Brgy. Pasong Putik.

Will a carpet on an accelerator do that? Or may galit yung driver sa bank or client?

Although kung SUA yan naka shift sya between drive and reverse, the neutral is between those 2. It's only logical you'd shift to neutral if you can, not R and D.

You won't be able to shift without stepping on the brakes and ganito yung gear shift ng Forty...

It looks like intentionally backed up and acclerated forward. And witnesses said they smelled alcohol from the driver.

Either lasing nga or sinadya. Malaking evidence yang CCTV video during the time na andun pa sa loob ng bank yung driver before the incident. Lalo na pag may sound ang CCTV, makikita kung may nakaaway or susuray suray sa loob ng bank.

My mother's friend was in the bank making a deposit during the incident. Unfortunately in the commotion she lost her wallet and the deposit money.
