    i remember, years ago.
the lady burned herself when the hot drink she bought from the fastfood spilled onto her as she was driving.
the us court awarded her a handsome amount because, i believe, "the drink was too hot"..
in the phils, she might have gotten zero + admonition not to drink and drive.

    the law is strange.

The McDonald's 'hot coffee' case? That's a myth!

    1) McDonald's coffee really was too hot! 180-190°F
    2) The woman ended up with multiple third-degree burns.
    3) An expert from the University of Texas testified that the level of risk with handling liquid that hot was unacceptable.
    4) She only asked for medical bills and lost income, to the tune of $20k. McDonald's made an insultingly low offer of $300, which is why they went to court
    5) After they lost in court, McDonald's went on a smear campaign to somehow set up her image as a litigious, looney old woman. To this day the case is famous as a frivolous lawsuit that won jackpot damages. Sya na aggrieved party, sya pa siniraan.

The issue is the case is known for being frivolous, which it certainly wasn't.

The main reason why the damages ballooned was because of McDonald's callous and indifferent behavior throughout the hearings. They could have settled for much less.
$2.7M was punitive damages tacked on by the jury to teach McDonald's a lesson.

Pag nabangga ang two wheel, kung may helmet yun rider, di naman lahat, pero karamihan, lipad ang helmet at the point of impact.

Hindi yan hinigpitan. Defeats wearing a helmet. Sana wag na lang magsuot.

Multiple-vehicle crash kills 9 in Cardona, Rizal
    Published December 17, 2019 9:24am

Nine people died in a road accident involving three vehicles in Cardona, Rizal on Tuesday morning.

According to a report by Mark Makalalad on Dobol B sa News TV aired on GMA News TV, the mishap happened at around 5 a.m. in Barangay Looc when a cargo truck lost its brakes and plowed through an oncoming passenger jeepney.

A dump truck coming down from the Diversion Road also crashed into the ill-fated jeepney, said Bong Bernabe, head of the Cardona Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Authorities have yet to identify the victims but some of them were students and workers, he added.

The driver of the dump truck was among those who died on the spot, according to Bernabe.

Five others were hurt, of whom one was critically injured.

The accident caused heavy traffic in the area. —Dona Magsino/KG, GMA News

those maximum speed limits along the highways.
they are for ideal daytime driving conditions.
at night, when there is fog or smoke, or when it is raining... when visibility or traction are compromised, one should slow down...
where road appliances are applied to wake one up or warn of impending change in driving conditions, one should slow down.
when signage demands, one should slow down.
when one feels sleepy or is inebriated, one should get out of the road.
