Really? The pound was decent before. Is it still located in the fire station?

Back in college, I adopted a dog (mongrel) from the city pound. The dog was not so friendly so we just tied it up. Then a few weeks after, I got a visit from a foreign national that probably belongs to an animal welfare group affiliated with the pound. They confiscated the dog because I am not supposed to tie it up daw. I gladly gave them back the dog. Geez. It was not neglected and they made it sound like it was. That was the first and last time I adopted a dog.

Pepper spray or Mace. No long term side effects. It will just teach them a lesson worth remembering next time.

Be aware of the wind direction though.

Hahaha make sure the nozzle is pointed away from you, you are upwind and that there is no possibility a passing car creates a draft toward you or back splash

Easy, get a fishing line and hook. Attach a fishing hook to a meter long line. At the hook use adobo for bait, on the other end of the line attach an empty tin can. Place the setup where this dog hangs around. The owner sure will notice this

kulang pa siguro ung nakokolekta sa mga PUV kaya ung pondo ng city pound binigay na din sa kanila, well MAPSA is no diff naman sa mga buwaya kaya pasok pa din sa animal welfare.

I don't want to hurt the dog. I just want to make it stop charging at my fat lab

I used to have the same dilemma where I live. Thing is, dogs, specially males, are highly territorial and dominant. They most likely look at your place as its territory, that is why he marks it. He attacks your dog to show it's dominance. Best is to report the insidences to your village or barangay, since there is a law on story dogs. The barangay will catch the dog & impound it until the owner claims it after paying a fee.

I also bought an air soft gun. So just to have fun, I just imagine I am a sniper. It won't penetrate the skin anyway, parang pinitik lang ng malakas. Just don't shoot the head.

if it's a mongrel stand your ground dont be scared, the louder the bark means thmore scared he is, bring a tennis racket or a badminton racket to shield yourself or an a umbrella.(open the umbrella if the dog comes at you) last resort is to use a dog whistle however this will al irritate your fat lab

only dogs to fear are those that doesnt bark and attack without warning, such as untrained pitbull(love them) belgian malinois, rott, doberman, they only bark if they cant attack( kasi nakakulong silas)

I always run with my 3 dogs, 1bichon, 1sheltie and 1 JRT. Whenever stray dogs attempt to attack them, I block them and if they get near to a striking distance, I just kick them in the face. Remember, their attention is focused on your dog so they won't notice you. Works like a charm every time.

I have more than ten dogs at home. Most of them are behaved, many large breed. 3 of the large breeds wont even bark and will just look at you.

If you have been living with dogs for a ling time, you will know that each one has different temperaments. But one thing is common to them, they really smell fear. They know humans are more superior to them. But if they smell fear, they will take advantage of that. (Of course other breeds are more likely to do behave like that. Your lab probably wont)

So going back to topic, if a stray dog tries to attack you, try to assert your authority by shouting at them or even just pretend picking a stone and pretend to throw it to that dog.

Of course, this wont apply to attack dogs properly trained for that ;)

Hth and sorry for the long post.

    Rem

You are not afraid that the dog will bite you? Every time I walk my fat lab, even the neighbors dogs (inside the gates) bark like crazy! There are some dogs na she barks back, and some that she ignores. It's really stressful because I am with a very docile dog that will probably not fight back. She even gets bullied by my mini dax

I have trauma with aggressive dogs. I've seen a Pitbull attack when I was in HS and up until now it's still fresh in my memory.

Nope! The thing is if you hurt a dog, it will snap out of its aggressiveness and most of the time, will run away. And yes, assert your alpha-ness to whatever dog you come across.
