Wala pa kong hotel na nastayan na hindi libre yung parking when I was a checked-in guest.

BTT: we live in a capitalist world. Bat ko gagawing 20 pesos parking fee ko kung pwedeng 300?

It's all about profits and you shouldn't be so surprised about that. If McDo can charge 1000 pesos for a cheeseburger, they would - except that at that price level, they won't have any customers anymore.

But for parking, supply is limited and demand is growing, simple as that. People can commute but most are too spoiled to leave their comfy cars and take public transpo. They'd rather make futile complaints about parking fees because they don't want to be paying so much for convenience. Thing is, the price of convenience will just steadily rise unless you either increase supply by having more parking lots or developing more CBDs outside Makati/Fort/Ortigas, or decrease demand by improving public transpo and getting more people to commute in the metro.

And do you think the government will step in? Doubt it. Matutuwa pa sila - they don't have to deal with the issue of lessening cars on the road anymore since the private sector is doing it for them.

Parking in the whole of Alabang used to be free. But now that traffic is increasing, there are fewer and fewer free lots. Last ones, I think, are S&R and South Supermarket... they're still too far away from offices and other businesses for it to matter.
McDonalds Alabang, ATC near the church, SM Las Piñas open parking. Metro Mall, Puregold & Shopwise Alabang validates parking tickets, good for 4 hours. With the cost of real estate, taxes, cost to develop parking areas, naturally, they would charge. I keep a mental note of those that charge too high, like metal parking in Shopwise. I would avoid them in the future.

Same here. I patronize more often establishments that offer free or reasonable parking fees.

Which hotels? Even the cheapest hotels I've gone to (and I've gone to some really crappy hotels) have free parking for check-in guests. They have to... otherwise, no business. Even those that have you park on the sidestreet strip along Roxas Boulevard.

I once had a brand new test unit parked beside a movie star's sports car when we stayed at a casino on Roxas. Didn't even need a ticket or validation. Pure pogi points lang. (The car, not me. )

Shopwise in Festival validates? Really? Which parking area? For Puregold, are you talking Molito? Still, I prefer South Super, because it's less hassle to go to.

Metro is the best, if you can get a spot. No hassle basement parking, it's inside ATC already, and it doesn't cost that much even without validation. But you've got to wake up early in the morning to get a spot there. And they only open at 10. South Supermarket opens at 8.

McDonald's Alabang, great spot, also, but it fills up right away, and if you're early enough to get a spot there, you're early enough to get a spot at Metro. ATC by the church... too far from the mall. And worse, wrong side. All the places I need to go are on the other side.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Shopwise in Festival been doing that for ages anywhere you park in the area. Catch is there is a minimum amount you spend in their grocery, same goes for Puregold molito. Personally, I like parking in Puregold molito basement. Slots are wide & there is always parking. I just walk across to ATC.
