Yung mag chachange lane ka, tapos may car sa likod mo on the lane you're about to change in to. That's why sometimes, medyo abrupt ako mag signal then turn T_T...

brader, i posted the same scenario a couple of pages ago. unfortunately, some of our co-tsikoters feel na ok lang yung di ka pagbigyan kase either naggugulang ka dahil sa di ka patient sa lane mo o makakaabala ka sa flow nung vehicle sa lane na pupuntahan mo.

so, be prepared sa maaring responses nung same peeps sa post mo.

sa kin, i feel you bro. kakaasar talaga yung mga ganyan na ayaw makipagbigayan sa kalye kahit na nasa tama ka na at sinusunod mo ang alam mong protocol sa pagcha-change lane. bottom line is our streets now lack the defensive drivers we all were taught to be when we're learning to drive. that kind of driving attitude you pointed out is obviously very aggressive and could result into all sorts of negative events (e.g. accidents, road rages, etc.)

be always careful na lang, bro.

I kinda agree with you...after all, changing lanes is like a constitutional right. Often violated, always abused. Violated in the sense that them road-*$$es step on our right to change lanes, and abused in the sense that the same road-*$$es use this right too much, like changing lanes every 5 seconds.

Sometimes, I don't even bother signaling when I change lanes; but most of the time, I do it more politically correctly by doing so abruptly like you do. Either way, like what my sig says, if in doubt, flat out. I can out-accelerate those selfish fools anyway.

hahaha! i thought ako lang nakapansin nito. i posted same sentiment din a few pages before. ewan ko ba ano meron sa kanila. tama ka brader, habang di ka pa nagsisignal, malayo pa or pede ka naman makachange lane, tapos when you signal na.. bigla haharurot sabay beep-beep ng mahaba. baka bayad nya yung lane.. kaya bawal ka lumipat sa lane nya.

ugali ko kasi, in consideration sa ibang driver... signal muna ako bago lilipat. same way din naman ginagawa ko if ever na meron ahead sa akin, when i saw nagsignal na sya, i give way na para makachange lane. ayoko ko kasing i dutdut pa nguso ng oto para di sya makasingit. nagmumukha kasi akong STUPID pagganun ginawa ko.

btw: share ko lang... great help sa akin toh... ito parati iniisip ko everytime i drive: "Sometimes, it doesn't matter how safely you drive. One good rule of thumb to use is, "Assume everyone else on the road is an idiot." (source...)"

This is the first thing that my dad told me when he taught me how to drive. Assume EVERYONE is a friggin' idiot...drivers, pedestrians, dogs, cats, even COPS, everyone! It's like being in a zombie outbreak. It's a matter of survival.

ang isa sa pinakakaasaran ko e yung mga pumapasok sa to a bigger road papakaliwa. . .iharang ba naman ang sasakyan nya blocking the flow from his/her left kahit kitang-kita na hindi naman sya agad makaka-merge sa traffic going to his/her left. . . .minsan napuno ako, me binabaan ako na ganyan (crv) sa aurora blvd, pinaatras ko sya dun sa pinanggalingan nya so that we could move forward. . .

Haha!

    I hate:

    1. Not using signal lights.

    3. those who block driveways and intersection.

    4. jeepney terminal on the side of the street.

    5. motorcycles who overtake using the right part on a two lane two way street. (magugulat ka na lang may katabi ka na sa kanan.) then they suddenly cut you.

    6. horn honking idiots when the light just turned green.

    7. drivers who don't follow (know) traffic lights.

    8. slow cars on fast lane at nagbababad pa!

    9. drivers who do not respect the pedestrian lane. (hinaharangan, hinaharurutan, etc.)

    10. pirvate cars with police escorts.

    11. at madami pang iba.

    - drivers that have no right of way but because they turned flashed their bright lights they think you should give way. The proper use flashing lights indicates you are letting the other vehicle pass. So when you signal left on lets say a highway, the car behind on your left side flashes their light it means you can go ahead and switch lanes.

    - usually jeepneys that have no lights at night.

    - vehicles that go counterflow or enter a one-way street

    - vehicles that go on green even when the street they are entering is full of vehicles that are not moving. yet traffic enforcers usually let they go even when they are actually obstructing traffic.

    - drivers who use their hazard lights and think this is an excuse to ignore traffic rules

    - Neighbor's drivers who think they've a right to block your driveway just because they see that your car has left the garage.
    - Neighbor's drivers who love to park in front of your driveway. When you confront them, they're the ones who are angry. They claim that they're always THERE to move away their amo's car in case I need to get out.
    - Neighbor's drivers who can't seem to understand the meaning of "DO NOT BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY" means that YOU SHOULD NOT BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY, kahit na 1 minute lang.
    - Neighbor's drivers who subscribe to the motto of "Okay lang mang abala. Wag lang ako ma-abala."

I'm sure most if not all of these are already posted but just so I can rant I'll do it anyway hehe.

Most definitely not using turning signals when changing lanes (and very suddenly at that). Overseas you will even fail the driving test if you don't use turning signals when changing lanes.

The car/van/truck who takes up two lanes or overlapping a lane preventing you from passing driving slow... yes very frustrating.

Counterflow (was so shocked to see it here used so often in an everyday setting).

Drivers who just cut in and pressure you to let them in otherwise risk them scathing/scratching up your car by not giving them room, so I usually let them pass as my car is fairly new.

Drivers with NON-retrofitted HIDS and/or big foglights that glare and blind you.

Drivers who keep swerving in heavy traffic for no good reason. I've seen a guy swerving in and out of traffic for about 40 mins. 40 mins later he was still only 2 car lengths ahead of me... was it worth all that swerving and risking damage just to get 2 car lengths ahead.

People who honk as soon as the light turns green... impatience much? I'm still not used to it as honking is considered rude where I come from and should only be used when necessary.

Jeepneys/puv who stop to pickup / drop passengers in the middle of the street... so dangerous and also prone to accidents. Recently a beamer in front of me stopped suddenly when the jeepney infront of him stopped to drop passengers, I had to brake and turn right in time to avoid hitting, luckily there was no car behind me or on the right lane. There was very little warning so now I tend to drive much slower.

Buses who slide over into your lane forcing you to move over... Buses who race other busses to get passengers... these are some of the biggest road bullies I've seen.

Last but not least one of the biggest things that really irks me are those drivers who double park on a main road causing more bottleneck traffic forcing cars to merge to the next lane where theres already traffic just so they can park outside the bank while they can do their banking while inconveniencing a very large number of people! I really don't know why the enforcers are not strict with double parking even on that lane it said in big red letters NO PARKING /LOADING ANYTIME and they still do it.

When my friends told me it was really hell to drive in Manila and if you can drive in Manila you can drive anywhere, I didn't really take it to heart until I experienced it myself. I really miss driving abroad now but alas this is still my new home so I must get used to it... eventually?
