may napansin ako mga nissan patrol year 2003,2004 na binebenta ng mga car exchange with digital odometer and an unbelievable low mileage considering they are 3 to 4 years old.

alam ko yung analog meter kaya pitikin ng mga mekaniko para palabasin na mababa and mileage. How about the digital one, can they do it also????

Never look at the odometer.

Always listen to the engine. The engine cannot lie.

Perhaps the best advice .

Bring along your own mechanic that has the specific skills for a particular car, say, if it's a diesel then get a mech that has more experience in diesel engines. You have a better shot at determining the vehicle's condition.

Most of all, don't rush into buying especially if the seller tries real hard to sales talk you. Chances are, he is desperate too

Dati umabot pa ako ng mga 5 units to be inspected per day. Lahat nung nasa Buy and Sell ads paper pinuntahan ko. Yung iba naman magkakalapit like nasa Balintawak, Tomas Morato, etc. Tapos meron din sa Ortigas. Kaso yung iba malayo na sakin like Fairview, Sucat, Southwoods, etc. Sa daan na ko kumamakin. Marami kasi sa mga buyer madaling mapabilib sa “Low Mileage” “Fresh” “Nice in and out” strategy. Meron din naming totoo ang mileage gaya ng sabi yun nga lang talagang swertihan.

Lamang ka na lang kung kilala mo yung prev owner. Like in my case tagal ko na inaawitan yung Fieldmaster 4X4 ng isang doc dito ayaw pa rin sa ngayon rare daw kasi.

At least sigurado ko at alam ko na siya / sila lang ang gumagamit. Kumbaga madali na ma-calculate ano man ang mileage.

Ayaw ko sa mga car exchange hangga’t maaari para maiwasan ang mga duda mahal pa.

Some of the fakers pose like they are selling the car for a relative, so and so, or they claim to own the vehicle pero open ended deed. When you ask them stuff about the vehicle history hindi ka nila masagot. When you ask them to demonstrate certain features, hindi din nila alam.

Minsan naman sobrang obvious, sa kanya daw yung car all this time pero hindi magkasya sa garahe (e.g. masyado mahaba). Ano yun, five plus years nang hindi ka nagsasara ng gate kapag gabi? :lol:

Kung bibili ka sa 2nd hand car dealer huwag mo base ang condition ng kotse sa mileage nya. Marami naman pwedeng basis, tulad ng steering wheel ang shift knob. Kapag pudpud na mga ito malamang 100k na mileage nito. Also don't expect a low mileage on a 10year old car. Marami rin kasi na buyer's na gusto low mileage makikita nila, nakakalimutan nila na average milage ng isang kotse if daily use ito is around 20k/year. Kung 5yrs old na kotse mo that is 100k mileage na. Kung well maintain naman ang kotse balewala lang ang ganitong mileage.

Kami swerte. Nakabili kami dalawa car. Dun sa mga tindahan ng mga 2nd hand car.

40 thou kms ang tinakbo. Pinacheck namin sa talyer ok daw.

Tapos pag dating ng 80 thou kms dun ako nagpalit timing belt. Sabi nga nung mechaniko, "Virgin na Virgin yung sasakyan mo ah. 2006 dun pa lang napalitan ng timing belt eh 96 model pa.

Me, i always check the engine, body, transmission and electronics regardless of the odometer.

about the digital odometer tampering, my father tried doing this before. but take note, we're not into buy&sell.

My father experimented his DIY odometer reseting on our two cars before.

2001 Ford Ranger XLT

he removed the odometer assembly. binalot niya ng aluminum foil ang lahat ng circuit board, para daw mag short ang lahat ng capacitor and the memory batteries tapos iniwan niya ito nang isang gabi at kinabukasan nung ibinalik niya ay nag back to zero.

2002 Nissan Frontier

again, he removed the odometer assembly but all electronics were still plugged. tapos ginamitan niya ito ng "PITIK" ng lighter (ung magnetic na igniter) sa bandang ground ng odometer assembly. tapos nagbli-blink yung digital display at nagbabago. hanggang sa nakuha niya ang desired na mileage niya.

He did all these out of curiosity. He's an electronics technician and working for the largest telecommunication company here. nakarating na kase ng japan at nag-training dati dun. kaya daming theories at daming alam. parang McGyver.
