I wonder if they are still going to sell the current Ranger at a discounted price when the NEW Ranger comes out.

Any final dibs on the pricing?

I hope we still get hill descent control, and rear diff lock. I'd gladly give up leather, 18 inch wheels, and fancy sound system for those pieces of hardware.

The Navara is not available with HDC locally but is available elsewhere in the world. I think Nissan feels we like the 'borloloy's better. The last Nissan Patrol they sold with a rear diff lock was in year 2000...nothing followed.

No final price for the Philippines yet but i'm guessing it will be 100-150k pricier for the Wildtrak model compared to the competitor's top models.

And no we will not be getting a dumbed down version of the 2012 Ranger since Ford's strategy now is One-Ford meaning all the 180 countries getting the new 2012 Ford Ranger have the same features. Like the HDC, Rear diff lock, leather seats, 18 inch wheels and the fancy sound sytem;)

The video makes it look less difficult than it is [that's what photo and video does to off road terrain].

HDC is a godsend in that kind of terrain. Stepping on the brakes is only a last resort when descending steep off road terrain.

The test has been exaggerated to highlight the work of HDC. In the real world, most of us would still be in low range and first gear [takot lang namin! hehe].

very good point ,Doc..just look at the comparison thread..more tends to like their rides simply because the seats are more comfortable or how they love the sounds from their audio systems not minding the underpowered engine or the real purpose of their trucks, but when natural calamities strike like floodings..I really wonder how that immaculate seat would really help you out of a flooded street or does it even have the power to pull you out of a muddy terrain caused by landslides?

Power ain't nothing without control. What's important is how good your tires, transmission and differentials are at getting that power to the ground. (Shameless pre-facelift Ranger plug... )

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

According to one of their videos (fordranger * youtube.com), it is equipped with an electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger.
