Honestly I cant tell w/c is better. I think they do differ in the additives, but the results will only matter if oil will be used for extended use.. 10k kasi ako magpalit ng oil so i guess same performance lang. Malalaman ko talaga ang accurate results kung may oil analysis before and after, plus oil analysis on extended use to check the performance.. Availability lang at price ang basis ko for selecting w/c oil.. before nag RP ako, Motul (dito ko sa Denso Soler binibili), then now Mobil1. All i can say is parehas ang performance NVH and driving..

I am looking forward to a local oil analysis to see how they test and if they include the TBN. With my new set up I should be able to go 30000klm before oil changes but will test it at 15000k which will take me a long time to reach since I drive that much.

baka may trigger word doon sa sinulat mo. try to separate the trigger word by putting spaces in between. kung ayaw pa din, pm mo na lang muna sa akin.

What is the main component that we should look into in the oil sampling test? The test which includes the following: wear metals, total base number, flash point, soot, sulfur content, oxidation, nitration and water distillation. Is this data already enough to see the quality of oil after it has been consumed for sometime?

The main things to look for are wear metals and additives left in your oil, TBN is also very important but not all oil test put it in.

Soot count tells you how well your filter is working especially on a diesel but it's not on all test unless requested. That's why it would be nice to see a local one to know what they include.

im not really so sure if this is the right thread to post this in, but for the sake of asking...

If one is breaking in a newly overhauled diesel engine (or a brand new diesel engine) should one drain the oil after only 1000klms and also change the filter (Lets say, OEM brand)?.

This is because my Diesel is newly overhauled. And my friend is planning to buy a new diesel truck.

Also, how many klms does one have to achieve to get past the break-in period?

sir, you might want to try to have your oil analyzed. it will set you back around 1,200 pesos. but it will save you money in the long run. makikita mo kung ok pa ba yung oil mo. if its still good, you can have a little longer OCI. sa taxi im guessing every 6 weeks yung 10,000km?

also, what oil are you using?

yes sir just a little more than six weeks. The driver was absent for several occasions kaya tumagal bago naabot ang 10k km. Maganda nga rin sana maanalize ang oil para malaman kung ok pa oil.

20w40 lang sir gamit ko na oil, Caltex Havoline.

A good add on to this thread if people can post the aftermarket filters they see on the shelf there so we can tell you which are the good and the not so good.

So far we know this.

Fleetguard - Fleet service heavy duty filter

Baldwin- Fleet service heavy duty filter

Bosch- good over the counter filter

Mann- decent filter not the best specs for efficiency but well built

Fram- Orange can of death, one of the worst on the market.

OEM-Toyota black can not made by Mann, Low quality filter

OEM-Honda low quality filter paper end caps, cheaply made

OEM-Madaz decent filter good for 5000k oil changes

OEM-Nissan white can, total garbage, foam filter media thin cardboard

Nissan- made by Mann, decent over the counter filter 5000k use.

Mobil1-good over the counter filter

K&N - good over the counter filter

WIX- above average oil filter heavy duty construction.

OEM-Ford (Motorcraft filter) Good over the counter filter

ACDelco-None Ultraguard and Duraguard are of very low quality

OEM-Hyundai-good OEM filter

VIC- Very cheaply made, restrictive bypass valve, poor filter media

Union-Decent over the counter filter, basic paper media 5000k Change out

JHF- Decent Koren made over the counter filter 5000k use

Fil- lable says (for) Toyota, red and white box, Yellow lettering on filer, undersized filter media, bad bypass valve cause filter to recirculate unfilterd oil.

Fil-Fram Koren version. same issues. Steel on steel relief valve fails to seal, leaves dirty oil circulating.

Toyota (Denso) Japan, has on average fewer pleats for fitering vs other filters. Example MANN has 60 pleats vs Densos 29, vs Frams 59 in the same size filter. Very short life filter.

Ayos yang ZIC UP 10w-40 base-group 3 semi-synthetic. P210/liter lang didto sa probinsya at around P185/liter lang kung by the gallon. Malamang mas mura pa dyan sa Luzon.

1. Mobil Delvac 1
2. Motul Crdi Specific
3. Royal Purple

what would it be?

Cant find any technical data sheet on the motul, RP cant source it here in the province.

If your changing your oil under 10000k, it's really not going to make much difference, they are very close on additive packages. You can run Royal Purple and Motul longer because they are a group IV and and Group 5 oils.
