    12vdc,

Every filter has a nominal and absolute micron filtration rating. The nominal rating will always be 50% efficient and the absolute rating will always be 98.75% efficient. For example, the B161-S is 18 nominal and 40 absolute meaning it will filter out 50% of the particles that are 5 microns and larger and will filter 98.75% of the particles that are 40 microns and larger. The smaller the micron number, the more it filters. At this time we do not have this information on our website. We are hoping to have it eventually, but do not have a time frame of when this will happen.

Sa Baldwin catalogue, makita mo halos lahat ng filters that will fit your engine, nasa step 1 ka pa lang niyan ng paghahanap, next is you have to look for local suppliers para malaman kung available locally or you may opt to source out sa online suppliers para malaman naman ang price comparisons. Tedious process for first time converts to Baldwin oil filters but well compensated pag nakita mo na finally.

Nung una bili ko natulog ako katabi one dozen oil filter. Yung iba wala sa pinas ipapadala ko from asia and america.

(Other term lang ba sa bypass filter yung lube spin on?)

Edit: Nabasa ko sa backread ang sagot.

    Question by number001
    Silly question: Does " Lube Spin-on " and " Full-Flow Lube Spin-on " mean the same thing ?

    Answered by dvldoc
Same thing. The only time it won't be a full flow is if it says dual flow or bypass.

Try mo all filters then do cross-section analysis or better yet oil analysis. The idea is, the larger the filter surface area, the better filtration.

Malalaman mo yan kung bubuksan ang filters, then measure and compare the filter surface area.

Another point to consider. Multi-pass filter such as lube and singlepass like air filter performs the same principle in terms of plugging.

Kaya in principle, ok lang magextend ng oil-use up to recommended, depende sa quality ng oil to maintain TBN.

Sa fleet operators yung iba gumagamit ng "filter minder"- air vacuum monitor, para malaman kung "change-filter" time na, to maximize the life of filter(same principle with oil pressure monitor).

    Full-flow = inlet - filter element - outlet
Dual flow = inlet - orfice - filter1 - filter2 - outlet. May sanga inside the filter. May maliit na orfice to divert some oil going to the bypass filter. Ang spin-on ibig sabihin you have to spin the filter to the filter adapter.

What I'd like to see is something (a sensor maybe) that will tell you when the filter is clogged. Is there such a thing? The bypass on these filters are all just a rubber flap and there is no proviso that tells you when it is in bypass mode already due to clogging. Sure we can change it early but nothing will tell you if it is already clogged even at just say 3,000 kms.

Sa mga new engines may gnyang nanag technology eh, ewan lang kung may aftermarket accessory na puwede ilagay dun sa oil filter before putting the oil filter itself that could do such a thing. My guess is kaya naman but it maight be expensive kaya walang gumagawa.

Sana yung test strip for oil na lang to measure viscosity,TBN, and wear metals. Parang pregnancy test strip lang.

IDK exactly where, maybe sa performance shops like speedlab, berrima, or online. Try to ask around sa talyer ng makina, ang alamko yung pressure gauge may copper tube fittings going to the dash. Kung yang setup sa pic, its the same principle as re-locating the OE filter like what's described on the 1st page ng thread na ito.

You will be needing spin-on adapter, filter adapter, npt fittings, hydraulic hoses, and the gauge. For the gauge, you have to drill before the inlet of the filter at doon mo ilagay yung gauge to measure resistance sa filter element.

If you're serious enough, get the spin-on adapter first at yan ang wala dito panigurado, maliban na lang kung kaya ng mekaniko mo retrofit pipings like the oil cooler. The rest, meron sa hydraulic shops at heavy equipment supplies.

Peroperopero...

Doc, ok yung idea mo re: test strip hehe.

All it really need is a differential pressure switch / gauge across the filter which tells the pressure drop across the filter, or if it is high tech would be a diff. press. transmitter or transducer with a digital read out to be used as input to a computer.

There are filter heads with indicators that tell you when the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet is beyond a certain limit.
I don't know if these are available for small filters though. I have only seen them for big hydraulic filters.

Use a saw if you don't want to ruin the inside. Use an electronic grinder for quicker and less effort cuts but do so with caution since it could damage the filter inside.

A vise is to grip and hold down the filter while you cut.

There is a specific tool for opening oil filter canister but you can use:

    Hacksaw
    Pipe cutter
    Metal scissors
Cutting disk using electric/pneumatic Rotary tool/ die grinder like dremel, B&D RTXB, makita gd series, IR3000series.
    Band saw
    Lathe

Cutting disk and sawing leaves lots of metal-dust residue, better use this with dust extraction tool or paint brush.

I'm using 5" pipe cutter for cleaner cuts.
