That's cheaper than in the states, with most places you have to pay extra for the TBN. Hopefully people take my suggestion and this done so they can help lower their vehicle operating cost and stop dumping perfectly good oil.

I was disappointed to learn that the 15W40 Valvoline Blue oil being sold in the states is not the one currently available at SM Baguio. What's available is the 15W40 Valvoline All-Fleet Premium with a TBN of 9.5 according to the Valvoline Asia website that was posted earlier by Ry_Tower http://www.valvolineasia.com/Upload/...et_Premium.pdf. Bought two 5-liter containers anyway to try on my Strada that requires 9 liters of oil. Price is almost 4 times cheaper than the Mobil 1 Delvac 5W40. Hoping that this Valvoline oil will be good for a 10,000 kilometers oil-change interval.

These are the images of the oem oil filter after a little over 10,000 kilometers with the Mobil 1 Delvac 5W40. I also cut-opened the used fuel filter.

There have been photos of the used and cut-opened Fleetguard LF3830, Bosch and the Baldwin BD28 posted several pages back. Comparing these to those pictures that were posted earlier, I noticed that the quality of the OEM oil filter looks better than the Fleetguard and Bosch counterparts. The Balwin BD28 looks well-built though and I am sure it has a better filtration compared to the OEM filter. I really doubt the filtration efficiency of the Fleetguard LF3830 being sold locally which looks to have even lesser number of pleats than the OEM filter.

I also decided to change the fuel filter to a new one after seeing lots of particles mixed with the diesel fuel coming out of the filter's fuel-outlet while hand-pumping to fill-up the filter with fuel after having drained the accumulated water and dirt at the bottom of the filter.

sir, how did you open your filter?

for diesel engine, a good alternative would be top1 Synthetic diesel oil. as posted a few pages back, its a good diesel engine oil. priced at 260-300 per liter.

Not impressive oil at all, Viscosity index of only 130 and a 8.5 TBN, not really not a extended drain oil in my book, very low grade group III oil.

The OEM filters look good, Much better than the LF3830 that was weeping glue everywhere, The quality of the Malaysian Fleetguard filters is not good.

The reason that Valvoline is not all that great is the rating. The CI-4 with the SL automatically will reduce the amount of additives in the oil to meat the SL standards. You want your diesel oil without the SL, but better for a gas engine. The Zinc content will be well below 1200ppm and so with the Phosphorus due to it's API rating. TBN of 9.5 is not bad but there are better oils. It will easily do 10000klm with the oem filter.

Hopefully we can get a database of Local sold oil oil test started up soon.

I used an angle grinder with a very thin cutting blade for metals, sir.

I'll have my oil tested after the 5,000 kilometers mark at the Cummins engine distributor that miko101130 posted above to see how it performed. But since the previous oil is a Mobil, will the test be accurate for the Valvoline since this is my first oil change?

I will shift to Mobil Delvac MX soon and see how it goes.

It will have little effect, you just need to make sure you allow at least 1 liter flow out then take your sample,

this is a great find bro.... and its not that expensive even...

    May I suggest something?

Since we are all curious about how our engine oil performs... can we make something like a checklist of who uses what and the oil change interval? So just in case we want our oil tested, We will be able to know the all facts behind it.

I humbly suggest that we do it in this format,

    Name/Fuel/Oil brand/Oil Filter/Interval

then post the result when we already have it.

    Something like this hehe...

    LR777/ Diesel / Mobil 1 TDT / Baldwin BD28 /I'll do 12k as per Doc's advice

    *****Oil Test Result******

    what do you think?

After a couple of hours backreading, if i may ask, is there any shops/stores willing to ship those oil filters discussed here(baldwin, FG etc)?

Since its really hard to source decent oil filters in the province (majority of the shops here carry VIC), thought ill stick with the motorcrafts + Valvoline All Fleet Premium (the bluish one) and 5k kms OCI until I get my hands on those better filters.

Best if we stick to 5,000kms as benchmark for the UOA's compilation.
