looks like i finally got the real deal. hehe.

i noticed though that the filter itself does not have the plastic that covers the thread and oil inlets. its something that im used to see in a filter. does it really come without that? the person from the shop told me its really does not have a plastic covering. is this true?

Btw, dvldoc, i saved the link you posted on the filter cross reference guide. it has tons of useful info. thanks for posting.

    ry_tower thank you too. hehe

Most Baldwins do not come in plastic, they are in there own box for the most part especially on the small filters. Only the very large filters come in full plastic wrap because they do not come in their own box. I probably have about 100 of those BT223 in my storage so you got the real deal.

Hi Dvdoc, how did you get the micron ratings and media?

I could not find these info at Baldwin site. Im interested in the micron, efficiency, single or multipass efficiency details. TY

I call them, I just use the 1800 number on there site, just like I do with Fleetguard. These two do not publish their efficiencies online.

It's basically the only way to get the filter specs besides doing a web search for it.

They will either give you nominal or absolute ratings depending on what they have on file. You will have to ask further if it's multi-pass or not.

hey dvldoc, thanks for the info again. was wondering what is the difference between the the bt223 and b33 aside from the physical size.

b33 is the cross reference of oem.

i read somewhere that the bypass pressure is not the same. i think 8 for the bt223 and 14 for the b33. Im not sure of the actual numbers. i prefer the bigger physical size of the 223 but im concerned on the bypass pressure.

also are all microglass filter element, say of baldwin, are the same? im thinking if its microglass, the filter element must be the same and difference would be the thread, bypass valve and physical construction. am i correct?

    Thanks in advance!

If it crosses to the B33 use the BT223 it's a better filter than the b33. 8psi vs 14psi bypass is not a huge difference. If your OEM crosses this than it's probably closest to the factory specs.

I think he was asking about a fuel filter. There is no cross that I can find for the D4D fuel filter, It's basically a canister style filter and not a spin on.

Titan Gold is 2nd brand from Cummins Filtration (Fleetguard manufacturer) produced for Japanese truck applications. So they are good quality.

Here is the oil filter listing you can cross reference with, You can also click on fuel and air as well. The Philippines distribution site is still under construction.

Titan Gold ? Lube Filters You will need to use the OEM number if you want to find a cross reference, They are too new of a company to cross with others. Not to many filters for average vehicles.

Unfortunately Pacer has tons of fakes. Titan will most likely be real because there is no market to fake them, most people don't even know about them.

I answered your email and sorry to say both the fuel filters and oil filters you showed me were all fakes. I will point it out again on here if you don't mind.

No country of origin = fake

Under the little diagram of the filter and how to install it and pre fill it will always have the country of origin.

Plastic covering the bottom of the filter only = fake ONLY CHINA FAKES HAVE THIS

Also there are no crimps on the rubber gasket of the oil filter.

There will also be a date stamp on the top of the filter for example. The middle one is a pretty good fake it even has the date stamp, but the no country of origin cancels that out.

good representation of the date code. 97239, means (1997, 239 day). so means it was made in 1997 on the 239th day.

Will they work, yeah they probably will, probably no worse than OEM or VIC, but there is no standards for the level of filtration, and the filtration media or burst pressure so it's a role of the dice. Obviously plenty of people running these because they keep selling them.

Also the one appears to be rusted at the bottom.

Yes it is indeed sad that some so called official distributors are selling fakes. I'll stick to Purolator for the time being as this is at least from Ace hardware and seem orig. I'll ask fir Bosch as well since they have a distributor here who is a friend of mine and at leats I know he won't screw me. Their brakes and filters are better than OEM anyway.

I know about MAG1 it's made by Warren Performance, they also make SuperTech oil which is the in house brand for the WalMart chain in the US. So it is actually good oil, no better no worse than castro GTX or any base oil brand. Plus it has all the oil certs you get with a major brand. Perfectly good for 10000klm oil changes.

Don't anything about Whiz oil. But here is a good little guide on how to read the lable on your oil.

How about Motul crdi specific doc? Can't seem to find any feedback from BITOG. I've always used API ratings to decide on which oil to use but sometimes these oils with lower API/ACEA ratings feel smoother on the butt dyno. On Mobil 1 TDT the engine seems cleaner, every time I remove the oil filler cap and take a look all I see is clean metal with oil on it. A friend swears Motul runs smoother than TDT on his unit (same car).
