Kaya nga hindi EURO IV compliant ang diesel dito sa atin. Dirty Diesel causes the Suction Control Valve or SCV D4D dreaded problem. Toyota rectified the problem by improving and making the SCV bigger and longer and wont clog yong SCV. Mura lang naman paayos nito, less than P10,000 yata. Kaya nga lang you will never know when your engine will stall. High maintenance sa diesel, High Gasoline Prices sa Gas. Dami namang mekaniko ng diesel dito sa atin. Kaya just take your chancesna lang. As per Owners manual, Innova diesel oil recommended oil dito sa atin is API CF-4, CF, CD, CE and not those high API ratings for diesels API CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS/CI-4/CH-4/CG-4/ SM/SL/SJ ACEA E7.

May mga diesel oil na hindi API SL, SM rated Not all diesel oil are recommeded for Gasoline engine and not all Gasoline oil are rated for Diesel engine. Meron mga Gasoline oil na SL, SM rated and also CF rated. So pwede sa Gasoline and Diesel.
Recommneded oil for Innova from Owners manual.
Gasoline engine: API SL, SM grade 5w-30 or 10w-30, 15w-40, 20w-50
Diesel engine: G-DLD-1, API CF-4, CF, CD, CE

Example of an Oil that is recommended for both diesel and gas engine
Mobil1 has SM/SL rating for gas, CF rating for diesel
    From Mobil1 website
Mobil 1 10W-30 meets or exceeds the requirements of:
    ACEA A1/B1, A5/B5
    API SN, SM, SL, SJ
    ILSAC GF-5
Mobil 1 10W-30 is of the following quality level:
    General Motors GM-4718M
    General Motors 6094M
    API CF

Check your owners manual for recommended oil viscosity and rating!!!!

mga oil gurus, repost ko lang ung above quote from Innova thread. paki pansinin lang ung highlighted part. hindi ba compatible ang higher API rating like CI-4 for Innova Diesel? un pa din naman ang maganda na nabasa ko dito sa thread e.g. Delo Gold Ultra & Mobil Delvac MX. Ang alam ko ung API CJ-4 lang ung hindi pwede but API CI-4 or CI-4 plus should be compliant with Innova Diesel. Paki clarify lang. Thanks.

    CI-4

    Status: Current

Introduced September 5, 2002. For high-speed, four-stroke engines designed to meet 2004 exhaust emission standards implemented in 2002. CI-4 oils are formulated to sustain engine durability where exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is used and are intended for use with diesel fuels ranging in sulfur content up to 0.5% weight. Can be used in place of CD, CE, CF-4, CG-4, and CH-4 oils.

You will notice that the manual still recommends API CD or CE, both of which are really obsolete.

CI-4 should be compatible with the KD-FTV engines

i do not understand why are they recommending CD or CE, since the engine is already equipped with EGR.

Sir, minimum requirements lang po siguro yung nasa manual. Especially for units in more developing markets than ours. Anything that exceeds it is suitable.

I also wonder why it didn't mention CH-4 or CI-4 either in their recommended API rating.

Exactly. If the Innova are equipped with catalytic converter then the more they should use API CI-4, if they want to prolong the life of the cat.

A change of Oil filter is always done at the same time or in tandem with the oil change.

Buy a good quality oil and filter that could give you 10K+ interval oil change.

I am going to use either petron rev x all terrain or caltex delo for my next oil change. For the oil filter I dont know where to find a good quality oil filter that is relatively cheap.

go for Delo 400 or Delo Gold Ultra instead of Petron Rev X. for oil filter, you could never go wrong with baldwin or genuine purolator.
