    Agree with dvldoc. Sayang lang ng pera sa royal purple and other overprice glamourize engine oil.

    Mas importante ang api rating. A good CI-4/SL na diesel oil eh ganda ng performance. 800 pesos for 1 gallon/4liters

    Compare sa royal purple na 550-650 pesos per liter. (not gallon pa yan) so multiply by 4 = 2,300 to 2,600 isang gallon.

    Eh both itatapon mo din sa 10,000 -12,000kms.

    Ang laki pa natipid. 1,800 pesos.

    Mineral naman yan sir *800/4Li. Synthetic naman ung RP. You are comparing apples from oranges.

    Nagets ko yung point ni dvldoc na sa ratings tumingin hindi sa brand.

    Yung comparison ko CI-4/SL heavy duty diesel oil vs SN gasoline engine oil (royal purple)

    Mas di hamak panalo ang CI-4/SL pag gagamitin sa gasoline engine.

    If kaya ng royal purple 40,000kms oil change doon lang magiging sulit yung 2,200 - 2,600 pesos.

    Pero same din lang ng change oil 10,000kms so doon na lang sa mas mura na heavy duty diesel engine oil 800pesos. (ang tbn 12, zinc below 1200. ) example zic up and delo gold ultra.

    Sir pag gasoline hindi ba mas mataas ung SN rating compared to SL lang? minsan nalilito na rin ako sa mga dual API rating may diesel and gas.

    Oo yung SN ang recent na API rating pero mas maganda formulation ng CI-4/SL.

    Sa API SN rating hanggang 600ppm lang zinc, ang konti protection nun. Pero sa CI-4/SL hindi lalagpas ng 1200ppm. (proper level sa gasoline engine sa mga takot masira catalytic converter)

    Laki tulong din ni dvldoc at bob is the oil guy forum. Inaraw-araw ko din yun at kulang pa dami pa pwede matutunan

    Parang natanong ko na yan dati sir ang problema daw sa petron wala silang data sheet kaya hindi ma comfirm specs ng oil kaya mabuti pang gumamit ng caltex na lang.

    concern ko lang kasi sa caltex yung rating niya, ch lang ata, ung petron trekker naman is ci-4 na.

    Eh di yung delo gold ultra bilhin mo. CI-4 yun or Shell Rimula R4X na bago, CI-4 din or mobil delvac mx.

    Just my 2c, depende siguro kung anu requirement ng engine mo. Not factoring the price, kung CI4 ang kailangan ( such as those with egr) mas gagamitin ko yung CI4 rated na mineral kesa sa CH4 na synthetic. Same is true sa mga CJ4 rated oils, kung di ULSD gamit ko at wala naman DPF I would prefer a CI4 or CI4 plus rated oil because generally they have higher TBNs than the CJ4s. Pero kung CH4 lng kailangan ng engine ko and I am after better protection I would probably go for the CH4 synthetic than a CI4 mineral (unless cguro kung Delo 400 ;) )

    This is how I crudely understand it bossing:

    Turbo charged o NA diesel - malamang CH4 requirement lng yan, yng iba nga CF lng
    w/ EGR kahit naka turbo o NA diesel - malamang CI4 o CI4 plus
    w/ DPF and ULSD requirement with or without turbo - malamang CJ4 kailangan nyan

    Kung yung sasakyan ko eh CI4 ang minimum na kailangan and bibigyan mo ko ng dalawang oil, yng isa synthetic na CH4 at yung isa mineral na CI4 rated mas pipiliin ko yung CI4 na mineral kahit na synthetic yng oil na CH4 rated

    Another senario: binigyan mo ko ng dalawang oil parehong synthetic, yung isa CI4 at yung isa CJ4. Wala DPF yung sasakyan at gagamitin ko 50ppm sulfur na diesel mas pipiliin ko yung CI4 rated na oil kahit na CJ4 oils are superior sa CI4 rated oils except for TBN ( because using diesel with > 15 ppm can shorten my OCI)

    Generally mas OK synthetic talaga sa mineral, kaso kung anu anu ginagawa nila para sa emission. Ang dulas dulas nga nung oil mo kaso kulelat naman sa pag neutralize ng acid o kaya kulelat sa soot handling, eh di paktay pa din engine mo

    This is my opinion only and as a layman when in comes to oil, so dont take my word for it, goggle google din pag may time

    Ah okay sir. Ang alam kasi ng laymans 5k oci for mineral and 10k oci for synthetic hindi na minsan tinitignan ang API rating. Basta ako mobil delvac or top 1 swak na sa akin.

    Yan din naman paniniwala ko, buti na lng ginanahan ako mag google (250/L na mineral vs 750/L na synthetic) laki din panu matitipid and dun ako naliwanagan ng konti na importante din yang mga API rating na yan pati yng viscosity, specs etc.

    For my 1996 Corolla with 2nd gen 4AFE engine, I've decided to use weight 40 multigrade mineral oil, pwede API CH-4 or CI-4, kung may mura SAE 5w40 mineral oil, I'll stick to it with B178 Baldwin oil filter. For now, Mobil Delvac MX muna, available in five liter jug at Php1,130, with its high TBN and zinc, well protected ang engine ko kahit extended OCI pa.
