    Hi guys,

I am flattered that our thread has now been labeled as "sticky". Thanks to pajerokid, 4JGtootsie, mbeige and all others too many to mention. It is overwhelming to know that so many are interested to understand the diesel fuel system, and I am glad that I can be of help.

Soon as I can find the time, I will include pictures for better understanding...promise!

On the lighter side, maybe you guys might want to have some fun, and drop by to watch my band, "Spirit of 67" at the Makati Shang, Conways Bar every Thursday. Our set starts 8:30 all the way up to 12:30. No entrance fee. Table reservations required (which you can do thru me). If you come earlier, enjoy the "happy hour" rate at 350.00...and drink all the beer and wine you can handle. Would like to meet most of you. Magsaya lang tayo.

    Hi Pajerokeeed,

Your picture doesn't show the idle adjusting screw as well as the idle-up device.

I will post some sections from my Pajero shop manual reur inquiry as soon as I'm able to perform selective file saving in .pdf format.

And as soon as a 4M40 pump comes in for service, I will also post some pic/s to benefit you and others as well. Idle and idle-up adjustments are easier to understand through pictures.

    Bye,

Maybe when I fly back in January I can visit your facility - is this the one along Q. Ave with the Bosch sign? It's nice to meet fellow dieselheads

    Hi Beetle,

I really don't know if STP or other diesel injector cleaners are good or bad as I've never tried them. I haven't received any negative feedback on them though.

As a Bosch diesel service agent, we never recommend use of these aftermarket cleaners since Bosch is not in control of their manufacturing quality.

Personally, I don't think STP will damage your fuel system. Try it, and post your experience as this will benefit a lot.

    Hi Pajerokid,

I have the info on your Pajero's idle and idle-up setting procedure, but can't post it as Tsikot's maximum allowable file size attachment is 488.3kb for pdf. The info I'd like to send you is 6 pages with a total size of 2.94mb.

You can send me you email address through private message and I can send it to you directly. I was hoping though that more viewers can have access to this.

Anyway, I will still try to find a way to post it publicly for the benefit of other tsikoters.

    Hi Pajerokid,

You are lucky. My system admin was able to find a way to downsize the Pajero file.

I really hope this helps you. Happy tinkering during the holidays.

I have a 1999 Mit FM pajero. Two cases I want to raise:

    1. I observed the past three months the black smoke emission specially during acceleration. Not present though if continous driving. Do I need to have my injectors cleaned? calibration? How much time does it need to do both?

    2. As a practice, I usually drive at 80-100kph. When I am on Skyway, I can try to hit 120 but medyo parang sakal going to 130kph. Does changing fuel filter and air filter necessary. I changed them about six months ago.

    appreciate your input

    thanks

How much time does it need to do both? You don't have to consider calibration at the moment. You are one step ahead. I recommend a fuel and air filter change, most especially the air filter. Use original Mits filters.

    Hi Mbeige,

That was a good pic. You should have waited a few seconds more to zap that glowplug. It's new year anyway. So what's one glowplug to celebrate the year of the rat?

I'm curious. Do you have a diesel workshop at Anaheim?

Actually no that's not my pic, saw it online and I remembered that would be a nice New Year diesel-head pic

I wish I had my own shop! I got that pic from www.dieselgiant.com though. I replaced my car's glow plugs last year I believe, or last, last year - I don't remember when! But it's working great, used Bosch plugs of course. Wanted Beru but not readily available. $10 each at the local Autozone!

Besides, my knowledge is limited to the OM617-OM616 engines of the w123 chassis from Mercedes-Benz. Still learning about the OM603-OM602 engines of the w124, w126 and w201 chassis too. Other diesel engines are quite alien to me, at least until I understand their inner workings

1 or 2 years seem to be too short. Well, the cooler weather in your area probably makes the glow plugs work longer. We hardy replace glow plugs here. Bosch plugs are good. Are Berus better?

Still learning about the OM603-OM602 engines of the w124, w126 and w201 chassis too. 617 and 603 engines are great, easy to understand, and parts are available. Problem with the 617 is transverse shaking at 800 - 900 rpm. Other diesel engines are quite alien to me, at least until I understand their inner workings
Btw, what do you do in Anaheim?
