Totoo yan dahil mas madami ang Innova kaysa Strada DID.

meron ba silang difference sa internal parts like injectors? thanks.

so far ang plano ko is observe muna after this ATF / fuel filter change.... medyo laking abala na rin kasi ... hav to commute to work and I can't stay as late at work as I can kung may ride ako, compared to when I have to commute... mas konti tuloy ang natatapos ko... hopefully these fixes would fix the problem.. if not... parang i'm more inclined to really change rides na lang...

Sorry. I'm not qualified to answer your question. Haven't had much experience on Sta Fe and Montero.

sir dieseldude, how do I test kung mataas ang egt ko? thermometer lang ba sa exhaust? and what temp range ang safe for turbo diesel?
and im kinda lost, ive been reading about egr, and one benefit of egr is lower egt, how come mas lalamig ang exhaust kapag hinalo sa intake ang exhaust gas? diba mainit ang exhaust sa outside air?

sir dieseldude, how do I test kung mataas ang egt ko? Maximum EGT can be attained only when the engine is at full load. It is almost impossible to get this while driving on the road. You can simulate this condition when the car is on a chassis dynamometer.

thermometer lang ba sa exhaust? Yes, but is is often called a pyrometer, attached to the hottest part of the engine, which is the turbo's exhaust port.....

and what temp range ang safe for turbo diesel? The engine manufacturer dictates this. Range is from 250 deg C to 450 deg C.

and im kinda lost, ive been reading about egr, and one benefit of egr is lower egt, how come mas lalamig ang exhaust kapag hinalo sa intake ang exhaust gas? EGR slows down combustion because the engine is receiving less oxygen.

diba mainit ang exhaust sa outside air? Correct.... but exhaust air has less oxygen content.

Update lang po on my Innova problem...

I got my Innova last Saturday afternoon... ang pinagawa ko lang ay change ATF and fuel filter...

so far so good... malaking improvement sa acceleration response... akyatan naman ay hindi na bitin... I have yet to try my old driving habit sa akyatan to really compare... but from initial observations... mukhang malaking improvement...

ang ipinagtataka ko lang.. nung sa toyota ortigas for 110k pms.. nakalagay sa repair order kasama yung pag inspect ng atf and fuel filters.... mukhang hindi ginawa...

anyway.. will post further observations in a few days time...

    Sir DieselDude,

    sensya napo. dami tanong.. hehe..

Good to hear about the positive result on your car. I've been keenly following your progress on this thread as I also have a D4D Innova. Makes sense on the transmission fluid. Have you had it changed before and when? I don't think they have the capability to check the quality of the transmission fluid. If it is due for changing then they should have changed it already. Yung fuel filters naman, when was the last time you had it changed? Mine kasi was changed today at 15K km PMS. If I remember it correctly, it was changed on my 5K km PMS. Kanina when I inspected the old filter, maraming ng dumi. Touota service technician recommends a filter change every 5K km. It also makes sense na kapag barado ang fuel filter mo, mahina ang hatak kasi the engine has less fuel to work with. Goodluck.

And ilan po ang recommended running hours ng injectors and injection pump para ipa service / calibrate? Wala naman talaga..... but a good practice would be during an engine overhaul. Ipacalibrate mo kung meron lang problema....

and regarding po sa turbocharger, kelangan po ba talaga na hwag muna i-off yung makina after ng byahe. hayaan lang na naka idle for atleast 5 minutes para hwag kagad masira yung turbocharger? Hindi na kailangan ang 5 minutes cool down kung cruising ang driving style mo like in metro Manila or even slex or nlex. But after a long uphill climb like going up to Baguio, magandang practice ang 5 minutes cool down ng turbo.

Hindi nag install ng cool down timer ang mga engine maufacturers sa new cars, at hindi naman nagsisisira amg mga turbo nila. D Ba?

You probably had a blocked fuel filter. Tama si Timo07. The best approach to a repair is "basic things first" or "easiest to hardest". This will save you a lot of time and money.

noong Monday I observed na mukhang okay na sya... sa basement parking namin, as well as the NLEX...

however, yesterday (Tuesday) along NLEX.. I am not sure if this is due to my adjustments sa driving habits ko .. sa basement parking naman namin ay ok pa rin...

    will observe further pa...

incidentally, I also got a call from Toyota Ortigas asking about dun sa works na ginawa nila.. I said flatly na I sent it to another outlet for a 2nd opinion and right now still under observation...

This is very subjective and will be difficult to evaluate as even you are not sure if it is due to your driving habits. Best way is to have your car tested on a chassis dynamometer to see if vehicle performance conforms to Toyota specs. The test will cost you though.

now that the Innova has been with me for about a week from the last change of ATF / fuel filter... pati sa basement parking paakyat medyo nahihirapan na sya... even on EDSA last night pauwi... naobserve ko na may times na nabigla hindi sya maka accelerate ... not sure if this is more of a transmission issue or sa engine issue..

This is probably a supply pump problem.

Same with my RVR 4d68 when it suddenly lost power during acceleration & uphill. Problem was it was just overhauled & calibrated 2 months ago at Rapide (wrong choice!!!). Brought it back to them, checked the injection pump, diagnosis was a worn automatic transmission. Brought to to Banawe have my transmission checked by Baltak however they were not convinced it was a transmission problem, change my ATF. Fuel filter changed still no avail, turbo changed still no avail, they then told me that it was the injection pump. Returned to Rapide to have my injection pump checked again. After checks & adjustments still no avail & insisted that it was the transmission. Returned to Baltak (Rapide is 2x expensive!) for transmission change, checked it again still not convinced & brought me to denso. Denso told me "sakal" ang injection pump tried some adjustments and certain that it was the culprit, called Rapide told them of Denso however they insisted the transmission. Denso brought down the injection pump, culprit clogged due to worn rubber probably improperly installed! Recalibration also done-problem solved!
