    hi sir dieseldude!

Can you explain po further? because recently I had my EGR cleaned in the casa for the reason that I'm experiencing some unusual behavior in the engines performance...after the EGR was cleaned and the SCV was opened para pasingawin there was a significant change and it was like newly driven out from the showroom again..... Your EGR was probably stuck open, and continuously bypassing exhaust gasses back to the engine's air intake system. A good EGR should do this only at low idle and part load driving conditions; and it should close the bypass at high load conditions. Engines need large amounts of oxygen-rich air for efficient combustion. Exhaust gasses have very low oxygen content........ therefore, poor combustion and low power output.

and further more the SA told me that the cleaning of the EGR is about to be included na daw po in the SOP's of the PMS and its not gonna be a case to case basis anymore like only when an owner experiences unusual engine behavior only then the cleaning of the EGR shall be done.... So I was really wondering po when you posted your statement... I didn't know this; thank you for posting this info. Btw, what's your car, and how much did they bill you for EGR cleaning?

Including EGR service as SOP may be good as long as the additional service charges are reasonable. Most people believe in this saying: Don't fix something that ain't broke."

I'm glad that casa did a good job in cleaning your EGR.

    Many thanks!

    ahh I see sir.....my car is a 08 Strada 4m41....

Well, I've been charged at a minimal cost only for the reason that it was put under the SOP's of warranty claim... but the SA said that the regular charge for it is 2k...which I thought was kinda expensive...because the dismantling of the parts was so to say...not that complicated and the mechanic just used a socket wrench, screwdriver and half a bottle of break and parts cleaner for the removal of the carbon...

After the cleaning was done there was a real significant change in the performance....and another thing that really amazed me is that when the mechanic was instructing me to rev the engine gradually until 5k RPM...not to exaggerate but there wasn't a single trace of smoke which we all expect be excreted by any diesel engine at this range of RPM's and sudden revvings...I don't know if it is because the cleaning of the EGR or it is just normal because its a CRDi engine....but really, it has put a big smile on my face especially the improvement in the performance...

So paano yung Change Oil niyo? every 10,000 KMS na?

Sa Hyundai in fact fully synthetic is very much ENCOURAGED and mineral oil is even disallowed with CRDi... Kung tight budget ka papayag sila semi-snythetic... Sa Nissan Navara lang mineral oil ang recommendation ng factory... No idea why? Pero for me ok lang the cheaper, the better!

Gas engine ok lang mineral even if the CASA pushes for fully synthetic. Basta palit every 5000km...

Sir sa innova namin sinubukan ko top1 na oil, parang my hesitation sa acceleration. di ko lang sure kung sa oil, kasi di pa toh na tune up. may nag post din dati sa ibang thread na yung company nila eh may fleet ng assorted toyota D4D powered cars, ginagawa daw ng mechanic nila nililinis yung EGR every 10k kms. ata kasi grabe daw ang carbon na nagco cause ng black smoke. is it really practical to clean the EGR for example every 40K kms.?
