nothing special naman despite the crdi engines. most of the maintenance done should be the same as a regular diesel engine except that the fuel filter will have to be replaced a little more often.

hi peps, just wondering if the crdi engines use direct injection technology or do they have pre-ignition chambers...kasi tahimik sobra ng mga crdi
CRDI means common rail direct injection.
The common rail system uses less moving parts and its ability for multiple injections (sometimes pre and post) makes it more silent. Balance/silent shafts also helps control vibration and noise.

To my understanding parang it uses the same principle as monorail fuel injection systems of gasoline efi engines.
high pressure (1000+ bar) ang fuel feeding as compared to low-pressure fuel pump feeding ng non CRDi.
High pressure pump feeds the plenum or rail and pressurizes it, heavy duty solenoids or piezo controls the entry and cut off of fuel. We should understand the pressures inside the chamber when injection is done, the rail should have higher pressure compared to pressures inside the chamber BTDC if not there is a possibility that compression gasses will go in the rail instead of fuel going into the comcham.

Fuel pump feeds the injection pump, the IP then pressurizes the fuel and travels to the high pressure lines until it reaches the injector. The Injector/injectors should open on a specific pressure which should ideally be equal to all injectors.
hows the maintenance cost of your CRDI engine? Accent, Starex, Fortuner, etc ?? wazup with that injector? is it standard to get them replaced at a certain PM Interval? how much does it cost?
Common rail injectors cant be serviced they need to be tested and then if they are not good they would be replaced. Older mechanical pump injectors can usually be refurbished or rapaired. Commonrail is more expensive but the benefits are more power for smaller engine and better fuel economy.
Ok lang po ba na ibirit ang mga sasakyan na CRDi (with VGT for example?). May long term bad effect ba ito sa mga injectors? I asked this question because I know of some friends who own CRDi-based cars that "baby" their ride (ayaw nilang ihataw sa highway-not because they are overly careful in driving but because they "care" for their cars' engine)
TY![]()
Hard driving definitely applies more load and stress on the engine. However, the engine is designed to handle the stresses of hard driving.
People can baby their rides, but this takes away the fun in driving. It also saves a lot on diesel consumption.
My choice? I like to enjoy the power.
Just be sure to follow proper warm-up and cool-down procedures. In other words, wait for the oil to get up to temperature before applying full power, and drive gently for at least five minutes before you reach your destination. VGT turbos are sensitive to poor warm-up and cool-down, and can be affected negatively if you don't treat them right. And be aware of the dangers of heat soak in traffic or from prolonged high speed running... but then, this is true of any high performance or turbocharged vehicles.
Keeping this in mind, you can still enjoy the power a CRDi VGT gives you without any worries.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
i have been posting all over tsikot trying to have some advice on maintenance procedure on D4D engine.i want to know what special rituals guys here do to their cars. aside from the simple oil and filter change, gusto ko po kasi malaman how to clean various sensors lalo na EGR to prevent fouling. TIA
hi sir dieseldude!
Can you explain po further? because recently I had my EGR cleaned in the casa for the reason that I'm experiencing some unusual behavior in the engines performance...after the EGR was cleaned and the SCV was opened para pasingawin there was a significant change and it was like newly driven out from the showroom again.....and further more the SA told me that the cleaning of the EGR is about to be included na daw po in the SOP's of the PMS and its not gonna be a case to case basis anymore like only when an owner experiences unusual engine behavior only then the cleaning of the EGR shall be done....So I was really wondering po when you posted your statement...
Many thanks!![]()
