Shouldn't be that hard going to Lipa... that's two full-length highways, the SLEX and STAR. I can get 14 on my 2.0 on the NLEX.

have it checked at any chevy dealership... in my case the gauge reached below the red line and the warning light doesnt even make a flicker, it only lights up when the car is parked inclined or tilted... or totally empty na ang tank saka iilaw siya...
do you notice na walang drain ang fuel tank ng optra... pinababa ko iyun tank at pinatapon ko lahat ng laman ng fuel ko as in LAHAT, empty talaga ang tank... nakita ko at the bottom of the tank grabe ang dumi... later in the evening pinakarga ko ng 500 pesos, at nakita ko iyun gauge hindi tumaas, still below the red line pero nawala na ang warning light.
btw... full tank ng optra is 60 liters

afaik, the fuel gauge light, in most vehicles, will turn on when there is just about a couple of liters +/- of fuel left in the tank (i.e. i guess it depends on how big the engine is vis-a-vis consumption) which should be more than enough for you to go to the nearest station to fill up (i.e. maybe about 25-30 kms), except of course kung nasa liblib kang lugar, though it will also light up even when there is more fuel than that if the vehicle were traversing inclined roads.
I had thought that most cars reserve fuel light to turn on if there is 5 Liters or less left in the tank. althought SUV's i think have a higher reserve capacity. 1.6L to 2.0L cars i was told before had around 5 liters of reserve once the light turns on.
with a 60 L gas tank, Theoretically if your reserve light turns on and you make a refuel up to full tank, you should be consuming 55L of gas to make it reach till full tank. If indeed the reserve capacity of the Optra is 5 Liters.
How much fuel is in the tank when the warning lights up depends on the manufacturer. There is no industry standard for it. But the amount is usually stated in the owner's manual.

depends on the car ata yan e .... on my xtrail, it lights up when it nearly touches the E mark, on my altis, medyo 1/4 pa umiilaw na, on the rav4 pag nasa E na tsaka iilaw pero it has still s couple of liters left mga 10 or less siguro on the bmw, mga 1/5 tsaka mag ilaw na malaki e hehe so no missing na iilaw
Hinde kaya masyadong mahirap ung convertiion??
The 1.8 and 2.0 engines don't really have that much more power than the 1.6 (from feedback abroad).
For all the trouble you'd be going to, it might be easier just to turbocharge your 1.6...![]()
I see some brand-new looking Optra units parked at the Rapide (?) near Ortigas. Are those brand new units?

You have to check on Chevy/Daewoo sites and make sure they're from the same engine family.
For example, with the Lynx, the 2.0 is a different engine from the 1.6... completely... nothing is interchangeable. Same with the Civic... the 1.8 and 2.0 are completely different engines.
If they're the same engine family, with the exact same mounting points and accessories, and share the exact same ECU connections, this could work, except your friend would have a 1.6 AT with a non-AT box.
What IHE have you got? I could help you determine where you could get more power......usually, it's a matter of restricted breathing. You could also try another ECU reflash (not at the factory) to work on your timing and fuel maps, to optimize your engine... but that's a lot of expense for little result.
But then, there's always turbo...![]()
I really don't know. I can't find anything about it online.
Personally, I'd be more comfortable with finding a way to stroke your 1.6 to a higher displacement, as I don't know if the 1.6 ECU has the proper fuel maps to run the 1.8... there really isn't much tuning information on the Optra series engines.
Redo your IHE... maybe you're piped too big or have some restrictive crushed bends. You could also port and polish some to get a little more "oomph".
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
The problem with the Optra is its heavy body, but a turbo or supercharger would solve some of its lack of power but not the heavy body. That heavy body will always hamper its performance. I suggest your better off getting another car with a lighter body, maybe a toyota vios, honda civic, ford lynx RS or something else.
