ECU may not solve the problem of fuel consumption for chevy because the root of the problem is poor engine design ..
for me..if its not japanese car it is a gas guzzler.

I beg to differ! how are you so sure na hinde ma sosolve ng ecu reprograming ang fuel consumption ng optra? may optra po ba kayo? ako maya optra ako and i can clearly say na malaki tinipid ng optra ko from ecu reprograming!
Hinde lang naman jap cars ang fuel efficient! korean cars marami silang gawa ng very fuel efficient!
wala ako optra and i don't plan to have one. this is my opinion based on other poster.
man, im not a engine techie person but when someone has done the ecu re-programming and not solve the problem, then it may be a problem already of the engine itself or other components of the car... ecu is a programmable chips. so it can do so much only.
anyway fuel consumption is also relative to the owners. like for me fuel efficient for modern gasoline engine should be at least 14km/liter because if it less than that then its just like carburator type engine like the corolla 1.3xl or other.
This is my two cents only! peace man!
yes, i have re-programmed before, using petrol fuel consumption averages around 7.5 - 8 kilometer per liter... but after installing and using lpg my consumption averages only aroun 6 - 6.5 kilometer per liter... so maybe by using lpg in reprogramming, it will hopefully improve my fuel consumption...
buti na lang wala akong problema sa fuel consumption ng auto ko... hehehe
Dapat pati ibang car brands, pwede magpa-ECU upgrade just like a mobile phone, upgrading the firmwareI inquired at Mazda, they don't do ECU upgrades
Wala bang naka-station wagon dito? Any comments?
i drive from pasig to laguna everyday using my 1.6 M/T optra,
its about 9 liters or less for a 100 km/L travel(back and forth).
im getting 10 to 11 km/L for mixed driving (city/highway).
Do you mean you fill up your gas tank to full again once you have travelled 100 km to measure your km/liter reading? Coz what I do is I make the tank nearly to empty then I go for a full tank... so in short, sinasagad koits about 9 liters or less for a 100 km/L travel(back and forth).![]()
my computation may not be the best way or the right way to do it.
the only thing which is accurate is the 100 km distance.
but if you do it on a daily basis, 5 days a week.
i think its enough to validate my fuel consumption.
my wife gives me 500 petot only a day.
350 for the gas(unleaded) and 150 for the toll.
if my computation is wrong, definitely i will ask for a raise in
my allowance... hehehe.![]()
I don't know whether that value is for pure highway driving or not, but 14kml is a value not all sedans could reach if we're talking about 1.6's to 2.0's (under normal driving habits, hindi econo-driving). Sana kung SUV pinaguusapan.Originally Posted by katsudon_ph

Mamar... bro accurate value ba yan? As in tank is topped-up with fuel?
Kasi kung 60 liters ang tank (not to mention the 5 liters excess) sabay mileage is 16km/liter, that accounts to about 1020kms!!! Pwedeng ipangslap sa mukha ng Petron ah... hehe... to think na sedan pa gamit at hindi Jazz... sabay with aircon on pa.
Gotta try highway driving more... I just have to! Niyayaya ako ng challenge! hehehehe
CORRECTION: Dehins din pala... kasi yun may halo pang city driving eh? Sayang!

bakit sa inyo ganun yung fuel economy. my full tank will only get me over 400++km till reserve light goes on. At first i thought it had average consumption since i assumed it has only 50L in the gas tank. But since i read that it had 60L. compute that and it will give you just around 7+km/L lang. Now that is bad for a 1.6L car even if its an automatic. This is mostly city, sometimes highway. minimal traffic and economical driving na ito.
yes bro accurate ung figures kasi un laging lumalabas eh! last time i checked 16.2km/l ako! lagi kasi ako bumabyahe ng lipa and everytime na bumabyahe ako lagi ko chinechek eh!
malaki tinipid nung oto mula nag full synthethic oil ako!
Pure highway driving nga pala un! kung may traffic man minimal lang!
i think if purely highway driving ... achieving 16-17km/l on a 1.6l car is not that hard
