i just hate the long throw manual trans of the optra.

i do economical driving and i still get only around 7km/L in my 1.6 A/T optra. One of the worst gas guzzling car i have ever driven but the rest of the optra is ok, good space at the back, suspension is fine althought some say kalampagin, no electrical problem yet, plus a good workhorse car that can get you from point A to B as long as you have enough money for Gas. Servicing is just fine, havn't had problems with GM makati yet.

rusting door hinges on Gearspeed's Optra. He said that the car turned two years old last January. Just wondering, just two years, may rusts na?

my former JDM delica and my present JDM liteace wala pa, as in no rust(except sa cut-and-welded parts) but kung di na-convert, wala talaga! kia pride namin, 1998, wala pa din (including ung chipped paint portions!)

grabe, kung ganyan, aba kadudaduda yan...di rason sa dahil sa bolts..di ba sinasama sa rust-proofing ang bolts? or brand-new na binaklas ulit ung door, e nawala ung original na bolt, pinalitan ng galing sa hardware!

from the looks of it, di pa painted ung bolt, lahat ng brand-new nakita ko painted din ang bolts,e..including the "fresh" secondhands...isang batayan ko yan sa "fresh" units,e..

I don't think this is a common problem with the Optra, first time I ever heard of this from any review, much like my experiance with the (then 5 year old)Corolla's carcking paint on the hood.

I'll ask around at GMInsideNews, if there are any other known cases.

I don't know if the 1.6S is worth it, it might be better to just get the P780K 1.6E.

Tama nga... it's not really worth it (the Altis S), and it's not quick. at P840, the Focus 1.6 is a better buy (better insulation, better steering feel, better suspension, great shifter), even if it doesn't have all that borloloi.

From the looks of those pics, what I'd worry about is the rust between the hinge assembly and the door panel. That indicates poor rustproofing of the metal panelling itself. I thought all hinges were greased, by the way? Bakit wala?

Reminds me of the 2 year old (at the time) 1st gen Cities I would see, with bubbling paint and holes in their rear fenders.

Baka nga pinalitan yung door kase hindi kakulay ng bolts yung optra namin.
