kasi parang nababasa ko po dito na medyo masakit sa ulo ang optra...tam po ba ko?

and, pwede po ba kong makihingi sinyo ng info. specs ng optra na 2006 mdl.?

Buying a 2nd hand car depends on a number of things, like condition of the car, pms, odometer reading, etc. In my case, I don't have any headaches with this car so far (knock on wood). Issues hounding the optra:
    - FC: consumes more like a 1.8 or 2L. But if your foot is not heavy on the gas pedal it will be acceptable.
    - Parts availability. So far did not have any problem with this one. Parts from the casa are always more expensive. Try 3rd party sources maybe in banawe.

    General Specs:
    - Engine: 1.6L L4 DOHC 16V - Max. output: 110ps* 5800rpm - Max torque: 150N-m * 4000rpm - McPherson strut, coil spring stabilizer & gas shock absorbers - 10" front ventilated disc & 10" solid rear disc brakes - multi point fuel injection - w/ ABS - Driver side airbag - engine immobilzer - variable intermittent windshield wipers - blaupunkt 6 indash cd/casette player with 6 speakers - steering wheel audio remote control - front and rear foglamps - 5speed MT or 4speed AT - angle adjustable headrests......

< Php 300K? I think a well maintained 06 optra at this price is a steal.

Of course don't forget to test drive it first.

The Optra's handling is really quite good. Part of my fuel saving technique is running the corners at higher speeds that normal and the Optras handling is remarkable. i wouldn't be doing this if the Optra didn't have such good handling in the corners.

    Mga Boss,
Is ECU reprogramming reliable? My Optra '03 fuel consumption is 8km /Li city driving. Based on previous posts it can be change to 10km/Li or more. Plano ko na ipa reprogram ung skin. any inputs. Thanks

Just an observation, mine is 06model matic. What on "D" and at full stop, I noticed that the rev is always slightly higher than the 1000rpm level. But when you shift to "N" the rev drops to around 800rpm. ("D" at full stop of course means you are stepping on the brake.)

On slow speed and on "D", when you release the gas pedal still the rev goes to the 1000up rpm level.

In comparison with my other matic same year '06 but different make, on slow speed the rev ALWAYS drops to the 800rpm level when you release the gas pedal. Again, when on "D" and at full stop. The rpm remains at 800.

Just maybe, this might be one big culprit to the optra's higher fuel consumption.

First I want to say that I don't own Optra car. I will only make comment to the post above.

Kung above 1K rpm at "D" with brake on eh talagang tataas talaga ang gas consumption nyan.Yes the 800 or so rpm should be the normal revs when the car is at stop with brake on or in neutral. The only difference is that in neutral you can hear the engine is giving out less effort than that on "D" with brake. Kaya nga mas mataas ang consumo pag brake ka lang palagi sa long traffic stop than mostly in "N" in the same situation.

Yes I believe that is one reason why the FC is quite high.
Reprogramming the ecu for economy setting will fix the FC problem.

BTW i observed lang that the idling of the optra A/T is at 1,000 RPM. That's without aircon. it seems a bit high since some of my other cars have idling at 500-700 rpm lang with A/C off. Might be the cause of the high fuel mileage of the optra.
Just found this post dated 2-24-2006......

Question: Do we really need to tweak the ECU to get a lower idling? Baka naman kasi all it will take is just a slight twist of a screw sa gas pedal mechanism (or whatever you call it).

Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to reply.

nagliligpit ako sa bodega over the weekend and nakita ko yung original lip spoiler and side skirts ng 2006 optra ko na binaklas ko before i returned the car to the company, baka may interested to buy. I think in 2006 magpalagay nun sa Optra dealership is around P28K. The color is yung very common na medyo Gold. For the price bahala na kayo to quote wag lang "law baller" masyado, then nego na lang siguro. Kung okay na kagad your quote then close kagad ang deal. Just send me PM.

    Thanks.
