kc mura compared sa ibang brands... tapos laki pa discounts... so ung initial cash out mo for the unit maliit compared sa iba...
un nga lang may trade offs at malamang sa assessment ng mga kumuha mas bagay sa kanila ito kaya kinuha nila....

The A/C is top class but the reliability- esp. clutch/ brake plates is piss poor. Whatever said or done, this is a good break from the plastic cans from Hyundai overflooding our marketplace today.
I wouldn't buy it. But if I won one in a raffle or something, I'd probably sell it right away (to make money off it) or maybe use it as back up car (since its free).Originally Posted by Duh!

pero if you will compute it very well, cheaper ang price ng Optra by
at least 100k over the Altis, Mazda 3, Civic. malaking pera na rin yun.
you can use that money for PMS or for mods.
the performance of my unit exceeds my expectation because i was prepared
to get around 7 to 8 km/L only... but in actual im almost getting as much
as 9 km/L.
Hehe... if I won it in a raffle, I'd actually keep it. It's a free car. Then I'd spend my time trying to figure out the gas consumption problem myself.
And *SupreMacy: diba modded na yung sa iyo? did you notice any changes in gas consumption before and after modding?
Because, as far as I can tell, the possible culprits for gas consumption on other Optras is ECU-tuning (which is why one guy had horrible problems from using wrong octane gas... weird) or poorly designed intake/exhaust tracts.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
nothing really changed with regards to fuel consumption.
mas matipid nga daw yung M/T than the A/T. supermacy you should test drive my car. its a 1.6 LS A/T. At first it doesn't seem matakaw sa gas pero If you compute it medyo malakas nga. You will be surprised the next day you drive it biglang bumaba na yung fuel guage meter.
Please refer to this thread for gas mileage consumption, tnx po mga sir!:

ano kaya talaga ang optimum level ng fuel consumption ng Optra 1.6 LS / MT?
if im already hitting almost 9 km/L, should i expect any improvement in case
i'll bring my car to North Edsa for my 10,000 km PMS?
will it help if i change my spark plugs to higher rating?
Who knows? Maybe your car might not need it.
This is probably an issue regarding a very specific or early batch of Optras. It's kind of weird, I was talking to a guy from C! earlier and he says his brother doesn't have the problem either, while another owner who complained of 4 km/l says that his A/T Corolla gets 8-9 km/l in the same conditions.
It would be interesting to know when the owners of "guzzlers" bought their Optras. And it should be a recall or at the very least, free service for owners.
The Optra moves two or three notches higher on my recommend list if this is true and if new units all have the reflash and new plugs.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
yes, the Optra would make a fine choice kapag na-solve nila yung gas consumption probs.
I was told the best way to solve my Gas consumption problem.
Sell my Optra and buy a Honda Jazz 1.3. hehehe![]()

Lucky for people like me on long trips there's a handy Lancer MX CVT, gas consumption didn't even exceed 1/8 of the fuel meter when we went for trip from Paranaque to Pampanga via NLEX San Simon exit. Trunk space is a plus IMO. =D
But, regardless of problems in fuel consumption, I'm still keeping my Optra, once I get a reprogramming and get good luck on the results, that's a plus for my car.
Edit: Typo.
I've read the entire thread about Chevrolet Optra when I was choosing what my first car would be. The decision to get the Optra was made easier when they held the "Red Tag Event" last Dec which brought down the price of the MT LS Variant to Php649,000.
On the good side, the car is quiet, has nice a interior, good 5-disc CD sound system, all power & safety features. I was surprised by handling and suspensions, really comfortable to drive. The exterior styling isn't so bad either.
Well the downside is it does consume hefty amounts of fuel on stop and go situations, a long-throw shifter that sometimes refuses to go in first gear, and the occasional squeeks and groans from the car.
Also, this car will never match up in terms of speed against Japanese cars in the same class, I've tried racing Altises, Civics and 323s at C-5 and SLEX, and I got beat everytime!
I guess what I'm trying to say is i'm not expecting it to perform like the more expensive japanese cars which we perceive as better. Never mind if it is a rebadged Daewoo
It is a car that fits my budget, my preferences, and expectations.
Just my thoughts.![]()
We must thank the Lotus engineers for that.Originally Posted by Execu-jock

Optras still continue to sell...
I guess it depends on what the car buyer values more, fuel efficiency or more interior and trunk space...
