Ah... okay... that means it'll start in a higher gear so that you won't be spinning tires in the slush. Useless in the Philippines.

I am considering the chevrolet captiva, I want to know its service, fuel consumption compared to other suv with diesel engines, cost of maintenance and other related matter about this car. Please feel free to post your comments and suggestions (positive and negative).

BTW, the car is intended for long term use.

So, parang the captiva is on a class on it's own, maliit sya compared to the fort at mas malaki sa tucson (at least when you look at it). Oks na yan mam, medyo mahal nga lang, almost the same price range sa Santa Fe.
i beg to differ. i've tried both the tucson and captiva. the tucson is bigger in the inside. parang padded lang ang captiva on the outside to make it look bigger

    It's not an American-made car.

The basic platform design is from GM, for European and Asian consumption, while the fuel injection system is similar to that of Hyundai's. The vehicle itself is made in GM's Korean plant.

The fuel system should be relatively reliable... it's the motor and transmission themselves that are unknowns at this point.... but there's always warranty.

looks fantastic though, wouldn't y'all agree?

if it were me buying i'd go for the better known japanese sport utes like the CRV and <gulp> the presyong ginto RAV4. hell, i'd even consider the old field master pajero... kaso ang mahal, 1.8M yata. mag fortuner na lang akow haha

The Captiva's diesel engine is a joint venture between VM Motori S.p.A. (Italy) and GM Powertrain.

we aint sure bout the reliability of the Captiva yet cause its still new. a few months old palang. If you wanna be sure with what ur buying, get a fortuner or a Santa Fe. But if a gas fed cuv is ok with you, then the CRV is ur best choice

I say go for the Captiva, we have already financed a few of these SUVs in CRDi guise, and no customer has yet to complaint. Raves pa nga ang naririnig namin.

*AG4 is right.. This is joint venture of VM Motori S.p.A. (Italy.. Chevrolet is partner of Daewoo. same with optra it has a different badge under daewoo. tha engine of Captiva and Hyundai Santa Fe are almost the same made by VM Motori on the CRDi engine only.
