Check with the other posters here like Boybi and Otep. There are also several threads on the Nissan Patrol... what exactly is the problem (loss of power, smoke emmissions)?

    Congrats on your new ride.

beachaholic, congrats on your new Captiva. I really like the looks of the Captiva, I just don't know of its performance.

Regarding your Nissan Patrol, which model do you have? The previous gen GQ Safari series or the current gen GU Patrol? What kind of engine problem did you encounter? Loss of power? Can you elaborate?

Anyway, if you want to learn more of your Patrol (if it's a GU Patrol), check out this thread:

Congrats ms beachaholic sa bagong captiva ride mo. Enjoy it for what it is, and don't mind what others may say about it (piece of advice galing sa akin, trust me on this one).

    peace . .

    Congrats on your new ride.
thanx guys...i hope it wud really turn out okai...i dont need naman the fast cars and powerful cars for my own coz i can always use my mom's hilux or patrol...(kmi lang dalawa gmgamit din d2..un lang 1 car has to be used for traveling lang).. in cebu naman, we have the civic and swift , so ithink captiva for me is ok na, i mean sana lang ok xa.

So now eto ung prob sa patrol, sori guys im not really good at the parts and terms for cars ha:

we have the first Gen. patrol, im not sure which year eh..ithink 2002/3 bsta its the first gen patrol after the safari. b4 may sira ung turbo something nya then we had to replace it, it started emitting dark smoke... then after a year, my oil leak then bglang wala nang power we had to jumpstart it para lang mdala sa davao to have it checkd in nissan davao. last year we spent over 100k for the replacement of that turbo something then now, ung quotation is over 150k...they have to replace thr piston std, overhauling gasket, piston ring std and others...laki na talaga nang na gastos with this patrol..its downpayment na nga for a new car! they said, the 1st gen daw marami talaga sira, is that true? we're planning to sell it naman after maayos sya...

which brings me to the next question...ano kya mganda i replace sa patrol-my moms thinking of LC 200 but mybe sa may na un. ..anyway next month na ako mangungulit about wch one 2 to get..may pa labas ng LC200 daw eh when we talked to the agent. =)

congrats to your captiva...it really made a sense...so far this unit is the hottest in Chevy dealerships, napakataas nang pila... For almost 4 months now...No regrets from buyers ever heard pa, for dirty mouth sales agent nang iba, meron,marami...They are trying to pollute your mind...in the end its your choice that will prevail. Anyways, what you see is what you get...Again, congrats...

in everything, simply follow your heart's desire and you could never be wrong. this applies better on cars. whats a good FC if you're not happy with the looks? hehehe..... i like the captiva too. i will buy one, if i will win in the lotto draw.

Sorry kung OT na from the thread.

The Patrol is one solid vehicle... i hate to speculate but it could be the dealer is also pulling your leg on the problems of the car (which is one problem when you're in the province, you're stuck with only a few options when it comes to service backing). As long as you observe the proper maintenance schedule, gas up at stations that you think have good fuel (maybe it was poor fuel quality that gave the black smoke), and observe to cool down the turbo before shutting off the engine then you can expect many kms of hassle-free service. Otep had a problem with his turbo on his Patrol before which one dealer diagnosed that it needed replacement, another dealer just cleaned it and all was well.

I saw an LC200 on the road already just today... i still prefer the basicness and pure toughness of the older LC100 and LC80 at this point.

i havnt seen the LC 200 yet, i just saw it from the net. They say ung LC200 na meron ngayon are imported bt not directly from toyota phils. Toyota phils. will have it on may and limited of 250 units lang daw sa phils. and its 4.2m, too expensive lang noh? The LC 200 looks gwapo bt true it doesnt look as tough as the patrol or the old LC models though.I love the patrol and its toughness, un lang dami na damage namin dun, but we might still consider getting the Super Safari.

Ms. beachaholic, nice car, congrats. You're one of the first owners of Captiva in this board. In my opinion, it's carjacker safe so its actually a blessing in disguise ;-)

Maybe you can try bringing the Patrol here in Manila to have it checked.

    Always drive safely ;-)

Aha, diesel nga pala yang Captiva, at CRDi pa. So being a Diesel CDRi fan, I would say na it's not a bad choice. Kasi, yung fortuner, santa Fe, at Everest are among the few diesel alternatives, at Tucson lang ata ang medyo kasinglaki nya. So, parang the captiva is on a class on it's own, maliit sya compared to the fort at mas malaki sa tucson (at least when you look at it). Oks na yan mam, medyo mahal nga lang, almost the same price range sa Santa Fe.

    To Captiva owners,

I noticed a button near the transmission shift knob which indicates WINTER (on a 4x2 CRDi). Is that Traction Control? Vague kasi yung answer ng SA sa akin, para lang daw syang Overdrive button.

If so, most likely it's there to lock the transmission into lower gears for better traction and engine braking. You can turn it on to find out, but I don't recommend you run in this mode.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

This is what the manual says about "WINTER"

I'm not sure if I understand "The vehicle will start off in third gear" for such winter conditions.
