Sa akin, the leak was caused by the rubber of the sensor giving way and getting brittle.

In the picture, the sensor on the bottom is the one without the red rubber while the sensor on the top is the one with the rubber.

Basically, I replaced the rubber and so far the sensor is good. No more leaks.

My tire valve stem and its base are all metal so siguro that is why I have no problems with it.

where did you get the new rubber?

I put silicone grease on all rubber seals... the same one I use on all my flashlight O-rings. It keeps them lubricated and malleable.

Cannibalized the rubber from my other TPMS sensor that was no longer functioning. I had one installed in wifey's business van but for some reason, it did not last long. I got exactly the same chinese "make" (not brand) but for some reason, tumagal yung sa akin na nauna pa. Could be the way the driver handled it, or some other reason. Just one of those unsolved mysteries, I guess.

Good that I kept it and did not throw it away. Just in case, I still have 2 more red rubber plugs on standby.

Update ko lang ngpapalit nako ng tire valve na stainless para no worries at matibay na bali all 4 na. yung kakapalit lng n isang tire valve na rubber pinapalitan ko ulit ng stainless para same na lahat. Ang ngyari kasi my bumigay ulit na rubber tire valve sa akin kaya pinapalitan ko na lahat ng stainless. And need e tire balancing kasi medyo mabigat yung stainless tire valve. 130php isang tire valve ok na din compare sa 55php na rubber tire valve. Kng medyo bago bago pa rubber tire valve nyo ok payan..pag medyo 2 years above medyo kailangan na double check na lagi. Para di kayo abutan s byahe. Kasi mabilis mg deflate pag sa rubber tire valve ang bumigay. Ngayon binalik ko na ulit tpms ko dahil stainless na matibay na mga sir kaya no worries sa byahe.. just sharing my experience salamat po..

After reading through this, I realize unless OEM (like I've seen on some subies), I think aftermarket TPMS's aren't for me (just my opinion). Mahirap talaga ang mods, whether sa engine, body or suspension, etc...

The tradeoff between convenience is outweighed by premature wear sa tire valves for some cars. If the valve develops a leak in some 'alanganin' na lugar, that kind of defeats the whole purpose. The problem should not be caused by the (supposed) solution for it dapat.

-Just my 2 centavos.

Kaya nga... tips on how to mitigate the premature failure has been shared. The benefit still outweighs the drawbacks, especially now that the potential problem with screw-on type sensors is preventable.

Last week lang, na-turnilyo gulong ko. I was just driving out of the gate nung nag-alarm yung TPMS. I drove back in and confirmed nga na may singaw yung isa. All things considered, it was nice to have the luxury of changing the tire in my own garage with power tools and the help of our kasambahay. Kung sa labas ako inabutan ng flat, mas mahirap magpalit.

I don't think common ito, parang I haven't seen one yet.

Not too expensive naman sa online sellers. Any drawbacks to this kaya? (if they're that good, they should be OEM na rin siguro?) The only article I've come across online is was a pic on 'how to remove corroded stainless tire valve stems

in car manufacture, every little cost cut, counts.
a ten-peso unit manufacture savings (X 5 = 50 bucks) comes up to 500,000 peso savings when one has to manufacture 10,000 cars.
lalo na if manufacturer believes such savings will not cut into its sales numbers at all.

decades ago,
the manufacturer decided to save a little, by not installing front sway bars in its cars.
thus, the corvair was reported to wallow like a pig during turns.
as a result, the car did not sell as well as it might have.
by the time they corrected their faux pas, ralph nader had made his epic attack on the car, sealing its fate.

The tpms set on our 2 vehicles are at least 3 years old na and i haven't experienced any slow leak due to damaged tire valves.

Will keep an eye on those na lang din.

Same in my case bro... I have 4 sets of external tpms with each at least 4yo and no issue so far other than battery replacement... On the side and could be a factor, I am the only one who is mounting and dismounting them. Will keep these in mind though....

Just an update ito yung stainless tirevalve ko na worth 130pesos s shop mismo binili, ang observe ko na kaibahan nya sa rubber is pag hinigpitan mo yung tpms sensor kahit dmo alalayan yung tirevalve ok sya matigas...

4 external sensors and a receiver that is plugged into the cigarette lighter interface. The receiver displays the vehicle voltage, tyre pressure in psi or bar, the tyre temperature in degC or degF... It gives a soft(but high pitched) audible alarm if any of the tyre pressures is outside of your defined limits and if the vehicle voltage is below 12v or something...

Cost iirc was P1.5K to P1.8K...

How long does the battery in the sensor last? I bought my tpms last September 2021 just after a month the battery
of the f-r sensor already died. I replaced it with Panasonic cr1632 batt and just today wala na rin (3 months & 4 days).
Btw I already replaced also the battery of r-l and f-l sensor last Nov and Dec 2021. Ang natitirang original battery na lang
ay yung sa r-r sensor (going 4 months on Jan 28)

OEM batteries, 1.5 years at least bro...All have been replaced and I have a bank here ready for them.

I have already replaced three of the valves in the ASX. Maybe the 4th one needs replacement anytime soon. Built-in yung TPMS ng ASX sa HU nya.

Sa MS ko, I was quoted Php9,000 for a single replacement. I said forget it and went aftermarket. No regrets ever since.
