Planning on getting an HID retrofit

G5R EX di ata plug and play. Nut and bolt method un. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Cant remember na. And also malaki ata ung G5r EX eh.

G5r EX on my research malaki nga pero as per installer will fit on the fortuner. Bigger projector = more light output ba?

G5R EX
NHK D2S Bulb
NHK Ballast
Stage 3 package at 15k

VS

G5
D2S Bulb (not sure of brand)
HLX Ballast
Stage 2 package 20k

Which do you think is bang for the buck?

Mahirap po masabi kung saan ang bang for the buck sa list nyo. Una, AFAIK walang G5R EX, only G5-R or G5-EX. Mostly ang mga projectors nilalagyan ng "R" sa dulo para malaman na retrofit yan. Pag G5 lang like yung sa 2nd choice mo nag iisip ako na oem projector yan ng Infinity G5 car. Also mahirap din mag compare lalo na if walang brand yung isang bulb and ang isa meron. And na notice ko sa dalawa mong choice is mas mahal ang stage 2 kesa stage 3 which is the baliktad ata or magkaiba na installer yan.
One thing I do know, if installed by a reputable shop ang retrofit mo, kahit yung entry level na package will be way better than any stock halogen.

Bigger lens or projector doesnt mean better light output. Kaya natatawa ako minsan sa ibang mga installer na pag nag advertise as if may effect yun sa output. Ang output ng projector ay depende sa optics, lens, ballast and bulb na ginamit not by the physical size or diameter of the projector. Isang example is between a 2.5" vs 3" na FX-R wala pinagkaiba output nyan except aesthetics and installation option para sa mga ma maliliit na headlight assembly. IMO pwede nga makipag sabayan ng output ang 2.5" FXR sa mga dambuhalang projectors like TL-R or LS460. Sa light width, cut-off sharpness and style at hotspots na lang magkakatalo ang mga yan depende kung ano gusto ng may-ari.

G5-R bolt on, G5-EX need to modify the reflector bowl. Both are not PnP.

Yes different installers yung 2 and both have been mentioned here na din. Concern ko lang is why is the other installer cheaper. Kaya still confused.

G5-EX I think is still 3 inches, but not threaded so nut n' bolt install. G5-EXL yung 3.2 inches.

Probably HID controller ung sira.

Ung adjustment, di kaya nasobrahan sa pagpihit kaya bumagsak then kaya ayaw na umaangat ulit? Ung sa isa kong car ganun. Dulo na ng adjustment, pagkapihit ko, bumagsak, loose thread na. So what they did was binalik nila sa original then nilagyan ng epoxy to hold it. And more importantly, hindi ko na ginalaw adjustment hehe

Huh? Nagpaschedule ka na ba? May mga ginawa na sila sa fairview ah... Mas mahal nga lang ang home service. Cainta nga meron.

Nasira yung HID controller ko and set a repair schedule with them yesterday morning. Dumating yung tao nila sa bahay, complete with all the possible parts for my problem. Nagmessage lang ako, booked a schedule and waited for them to arrive on the set date. No fuzz. Projector is working again after and hour.

Buti na lang di ako nagkakaproblem sa hl ko, one year na din naman mula nung naretrofit ni xenon concepts. A every night o early morning ko nagagamit pa Tagaytay tong oto ko. Swertehan din lang talaga

finally was able to upgrade my 10 yrs old headlight/fog ng rav4 ko to Redline Autoworks.
Very satisfied with the output and add on drl park light and angel eyes.

errr... are the oncoming night motorists blinking their hi beams at you?

i would stand in front of mine, at night, a few meters out, and see for myself if they are blindingly bright...

I did and even my wife who doesn't know these things was impressed. I have pics of the lights output. I couldn't upload it here.

I get the general consensus about car lighting setups - bright/blinding
I did my research first on whom to go.
I also happen to ran across with these setups and impressed that I wasnt blinded (Sedan and SuV)
