businessmen have already been importing electric scooters from China for years

the Phil. market still hasn't taken electric scooters seriously

they're still viewed more as toys than serious transportation

if you're so sure gas motorbike owners will switch to electric scooters pag nag take effect ang tax hike put your money where your mouth is

    mag pustahan tayo

6 months after the tax hike on gasoline you show me market data that gas motorbike sales fell and electric scooter sales jumped

Puro sa mga 4 wheels lang nababasa ko.
Yung tax ba sa mga motorsiklo (Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Ducati, KTM, etc) eh magbabago?

i'm betting car owners who can no longer afford gas will buy motorbikes

dadami lalo ang motor sa kalye

as it na nga madami car owners bumili ng motor coz of the traffic

it's misconception na car OR motor ang mga tao

madami mga may car AND motor

I don't mind if we see a surge in electric scooters or e-bikes on the roads but the use of such should be regulated by LTO. Most of these e-bike users may not even have valid drivers licenses and some don't even wear safety gear. Some don't even have the courtesy to switch on their lights at night. In such a case, they become additional unwanted hazards on the roads on top of street vendors, make shift trikes ("kuliglig"), and other things daily motorists have to watch out for.

Remember 30-40% of our taxes goes to waste/corruption. We need to feed the corrupt system.

This is all greed. They need the money to fund their infrastructure projects.....and guess who approves those projects? And guess whos relatives and friends will win those projects?

As a car freak though, if the luxury cars come down to more realistic pricing levels then i cant really complain as i will have something to look forward to.

Yep. This is also why many local politicians are lobbying for the shift to federalism. Aside from ensuring the survival of their dynasties, they want the lion's share of the pie.

i said they'll become viable. i didn't say people will buy them in huge numbers here in PH (they're already doing that in china)

just like w/ electric cars the electric scooters/MC that use li-ion are still quite expensive so that'll limit adoption. but prices do keep going down AND if gasoline get taxed then these electrics will get even more attractive even from a purely economic standpoint the low-maintenance and instant torque are big pluses too

exactly why electric scooters here aren't registered

coz they're not viewed as seriously as gas motorbikes

    they're viewed more like bicycles

something you can buy in a mall

sales receipt lang papeles pwede na gamitin agad

    driver's license?
