January 20th, 2016 08:52 PM #52^why not? if it's for the good of our environment, whether euro 4 or 5 or 1 million, why we shouldn't be happy? everything has to start somewhere, and that somewhere is here and now.

Because we are at least going somewhere. Lower sulfur = less sulfuric acid as by-product (benefits engine longevity) = emissions systems won't get clogged or lose efficiency (Euro 4 vehicles) = less pollution for humans
The process of removing sulfur from fuel stock lengthens the refining process, which translates to increased production costs. Refiners are compelled to do this now however, to comply with government regulations.
Bottom line is, if you lower the fuel sulfur, all other pollutants follow suit (Euro 4 vehicles).

January 21st, 2016 06:25 PM #55you don't get the point of my question, why go the outdated euro 4 if a higher standard is already available?
kung hindi pa mandated by DOE by 2016 mag EURO 4 eh di naman mag uupgrade ito mga oil companies? where is the care in the environment there? and sa DOE what made them decide na EURO 4 lang dapat sa pinas? cost sa production mas mataas sa higher standard, how can cost be justified sa on-going environmental change aka climate change?

January 21st, 2016 06:52 PM #56pray tell me, what's so arcane or difficult to understand in your post?
you read it again.
you asked why there is so much fuss about euro 4 when another standard is available, right?
you don't want us to be happy about the implementation of euro 4 because another standard is available, right?
this was why I SAID: everything has to start somewhere, and that somewhere is here and now, whether or not it's euro 4 or 5 or 1 million.
rather than bicker or quibble, what did Theodore Roosevelt say about this? --
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."

A simple question was answered by a simple answer then followed up by a more complicated question that goes back to the simple answer. Hehehe.
