I suggest the TS to test drive both. You can be misled by a lot of subjective feedback and comments.

What I can say is:
1. Both are good cars.
2. Both fuel efficient and powered by sufficiently powered diesel engines.
3. Both come with good toys, SF3 is 3rd gen already so expect more high tech gadgetry.
4. Monty is practically same body and engine (except VGT was added later on) from first release to present, this makes it easier to get spare parts.
5. I have driven both, SF is more car-like because it's crossover, while I am more confident driving Monty in rough roads and flood prone areas.
6. You choose any one of these cars, you will be happy with it.

Hay dmax. Bago mo ipagyabang na tunog trak ang montero, please, pakingan mo muna ang tunog ng Dmax mo pwede? Mas malala pa tunog na kotse mo e. This is the second time i told you this but i guess, a person who doesnt know how to understand will still assert his arguments no matter what.

Agree ako na mabilis ang dmax 3.0. I have driven one. Matipid din kapag highway.
Pero i have a test for you: Reach 180 with only you as the passenger and do the "cone test" (overtake-an mo lahat ng kotse by swerving left and right)
Second, intentionally drift in a corner at 60 kph. Just pull the handbrake and turn the wheel hard.
Third, attack a negative banked curve at 90kph. Meron sa C5 road extension.
Why am i asking you to do this? Its for you to find out. Yes the monty has a lot of body roll. TGP also pointed it out

To TS:
If you want better NVH, comfort, interior quality, more space(?), more toys, easier to drive around corners, better handling, a looker; then get the SF.
You will be breaking necks when you pass by.

If you want a hauler, pang harabas, better flood and offroad capabilities, not so good NVH (unless you deaden all doors, platform, dashboard pero ok naman), longer lasting suspensions(?), then get the montero sport.

Just get the car that suits your needs and the one which you will enjoy driving everyday

Kung ellegant style ang personality, ok ang Sta Fe. Pero pag may offroad situation even 20% ng uses ng car better get the 4x4 or AWD capability.

To the TS naman.
I own a monty, yung may namumulang gt-v. First time to have a diesel vehicle. And yes maingay at mausok ito. (Siguro dahil laging babad ang monty ko sa stop-and-go traffic) However, engine noise is barely noticeable when your inside. During the early months nagiging mausok na, however na lessen ung smoke when I changed my fuel to unioil. They say it's because of unioil's diesel being a euro IV compliant. Well, as long as it doesn't make my monty mausok, I'm fine with that. I did also add an oil catch can, which I have to check pa.
I have also checked on sta. fe, and yeah gadgetry pa lang bow na ako and maganda din ang style. Pero I have to choose my monty, kung pumapasok ka sa binabahang unibersidad ng pilipinas, alam nyo na yan ang magandang desisyon. After all, you can have after market devices for those gadgets that were being offered in SF. The choice will always depend on your own preference.

Thanks sa input. I do also have Diesel Innova 2010 model. It has a very good performance, the engine noise is less inside about sa usok, ok yun sa innova, so far 'til now ok pa sya compare sa nakikita ko sa MS, yun ang isa a ayaw ko sa MS mabilis magkaron ng itim na usok but i think its just a matter of maintenance pero kahit sino nakakabagabag kapag may nakikita kang ganun.

To be honest... kami na ngayon ni esmi nagdedebate... she is considering the flood in metro pero ako i want yun features & look ng SF. Anyway, We decide to buy the car by the end of the year to evaluate more yun mga cars at scenario! All that I need to know were already collected! Thanks for sharing all your thoughts!

I like the SF but I still considering yun gusto ni misis since sya lagi gumagamit at bahain kasi sa mga dinadaanan namin.

Di na siguro bumili ng kotse... Commute nalang daw kung tulad ng mga tsikot forumers ang pagkasiraulo lahat ng mga may sasakyan. :D

Yung konting diprensya sa ground clearance ng SF at MS, pag bumaha kagaya ng "Ondoy" parehas na hindi mo isasapalaran ang car na pinagpipilian mo. Unles ranger yan o everest na kahit kalahati na nung car yung baha e umaandar pa rin.
