April 12th, 2007 11:47 PM #1Between the two (gas variants), which one would you choose and why?
Carens points to consider:
+ purchase price 100k+ cheaper
+ engine stronger on paper
+ better ride?
+ more flexible interior layout
+ nicer drive?
+ "world" car
- Kia brand?
- low resale
- questionable after sales support?
- street credibility
Innova points to consider:
+ Toyota brand
+ roomier?
+ better and faster resale
+ convenient to service
+ more durable for RP roads?
+ less risky choice due to above
- choppy ride?
- cheaper looking interior
- very common -> more carnappable?
Main purpose is to be a service car for the family. Tipong go anywhere city car so it shouldn't be flashy and under 1M especially since it will be the 4th car in my garage.
Kia may be more affordable to purchase but will end up more expensive if you factor resale and servicing in 3-4 years?

I'd go with the Carens anytime.
The interior & exterior is just a world apart. As to servicing, based on the posts of Kia Sorento, Sedona & Picanto owners here - it is not that different from other manufacturers. The after sales service of many Kia dealerships are even better than that of Toyota dealerships (read the Good Squad about this).
As to durability, it might just be even for both. I've been reading of busted shock absorbers for the Innova in their thread. The Innova's ride is not Fortuner choppy though, it has the best suspension among the IMV vehicles.

carens parin ako, driven both, innova is just bigger to look at, pero thats it...
nowadays, dont be fooled by brand, masmagaganda ang offers ng mga undercard brands, lalo na ang korean...(exclude mo muna ang mga clone-chinese brands)..
for me mas bang-for-buck ang carens kaysa sa innova.
nga pala, MPV ang category ng carens, ka-catgory nya are the grandis, previa, only cheaper... kung di ka nagmamadali, ung CRDi lalabas din nila...

sorry for my ignorance. available na ba sa dealers ang kia carens? I hope the kia carens will hold up on its quality based on international standard.. Kasi I have a friend who bought a sedona in 03, dispose it in two years replaced it with an innova. Masyadong na disappoint sa sedona, kaya ayaw na ng korean brand.

Innova *might* have an advantage in flood fording during rainy seasons and roomier space for the third row passenger. Innova's air filter is located behind its headlight and the tail pipe is quite tall also.

Carens!!!
especially if its CRDI.
CRDI vis a vis with a D4D Innova
it has less displacement but has higher output 112ps vs 105ps
but i have a hunch that Kia/Hyundai will introduce its new 2.0L CRDI VGT engine that produces somewhere in the league of 140hp. Hope Toyota will soon start selling the new 2.5L with 121hp retweaked 2.5Ls they are now selling in Europe.
Also, ABS and Airbags as well as 4w disc brakes is available in the Carens.
The interior is hand downs, better than the Innova's too..

Have the quality and integrity of KIA cars already improved? I remember a friend commented on a KIA car years ago, "This car is good but the only problem was the brandname - KIA"
Ah ok. So Wala pa Lang locally released na delicą dito. Pinapakyaw kasi Ng mga outdoor lovers...
