^I think the correct term is "developing country"
I agree that Diesel has to go someday...
Full electric + hybrid is a good future for the Philippines.
Based on my personal observation... I think tayo na lang and India ang mahilig sa Diesel.

3rd world, developing country, banana republic... whatever
it will take tons of political will to make people shift to hybrid or full electric
the govt can heavily tax diesel cars and provide tax incentive/subsidy to hybrid/electric car buyers
if the govt doesn't do anything, people aren't going to shift to hybrid/electric all by themselves
how may priuses have you seen on the road?

in theory "diesel has to go someday" sounds nice
implementation is a whole different story
PUJ nga hindi ma-phase out
and we're gonna expect people to stop buying diesel pickups and SUVs in the near future?
yeah right
-
it's up to the govt to create a strong disincentive to buying diesel cars
make diesel cars super expensive
zero tax on hybrid / electricLast edited by uls; February 1st, 2019 at 06:16 PM.

^I agree... Even if palitan ng Electric Car ang Diesel... sa Coal pa din nanggagaling electricity natin...
Buti sana kung i-upgrade mga power plants sa LNG.
Swerte natin kasi India remains in-love with the diesel engine... For sure palaging magkakaroon ng diesel engine for passenger vehicles in the next 10-20 years.

as long as there's strong demand for diesel passenger cars, automakers will keep making them
$$$ talks
you need very strict govt regulation to kill the demand
like coming up with emission standards that are so high that even the "cleanest" diesel cars can't pass
that will make automakers give up selling diesel cars to us
and since wala na choice ang buying public, mapipilitan bumili ng sasakyan na papasa sa super strict emission test
-
at doon natin makikita kung may political will ang gobyerno
sino mas malakas?
goberyo o special interest groups (automaker associations)Last edited by uls; February 1st, 2019 at 06:36 PM.
