^I think the correct term is "developing country"
I agree that Diesel has to go someday...
Full electric + hybrid is a good future for the Philippines.
Based on my personal observation... I think tayo na lang and India ang mahilig sa Diesel.
3rd world, developing country, banana republic... whatever
it will take tons of political will to make people shift to hybrid or full electric
the govt can heavily tax diesel cars and provide tax incentive/subsidy to hybrid/electric car buyers
if the govt doesn't do anything, people aren't going to shift to hybrid/electric all by themselves
how may priuses have you seen on the road?
in theory "diesel has to go someday" sounds nice
implementation is a whole different story
PUJ nga hindi ma-phase out
and we're gonna expect people to stop buying diesel pickups and SUVs in the near future?
yeah right
-
it's up to the govt to create a strong disincentive to buying diesel cars
make diesel cars super expensive
zero tax on hybrid / electric

^I agree...
Swerte natin kasi India remains in-love with the diesel engine... For sure palaging magkakaroon ng diesel engine for passenger vehicles in the next 10-20 years.
as long as there's strong demand for diesel passenger cars, automakers will keep making them
$$$ talks
you need very strict govt regulation to kill the demand
like coming up with emission standards that are so high that even the "cleanest" diesel cars can't pass
that will make automakers give up selling diesel cars to us
and since wala na choice ang buying public, mapipilitan bumili ng sasakyan na papasa sa super strict emission test
-
at doon natin makikita kung may political will ang gobyerno
sino mas malakas?
goberyo o special interest groups (automaker associations)

actually it's easy to phase out PUJs
hahaha yeah sure whatever
The VW scandal was the final nail in the coffin for the future of diesel cars in the developed world
It showed that makers of so-called clean diesel cars needed to cheat to pass emission tests
Wala na sila credibility pagdating sa diesel
Pang 3rd world nalang ang diesel cars where regulations are less strict or non existent

Kailangan suv/truck. Mga age nyan in their 50s yung palapit ng magka unang apo. And my gawd, pati mga misis eh may mga bling bling din na bags and glowing in combination ng glutathione and chin-san-su. Sa probinsya ito nangyayari dito luzon.
And pag sinabay-sabay nila start mga desel engine eh parang videoke nakakairritate. They dont mind the noise and the really nakakainis na amoy ng desel. Parang its their shabu.
So yung trend ng desel ngayon eh more of a status symbol na walang class. I really love the toyota crown.
I miss the kalog days of the 90s and early 2000. Lots of gasoline engine and younger and good looking crowd. Naging classic nga miata and s.i.r. Umabot pa ng 2million ngayon!!!!
it is partly because of government intervention, that diesels are popular here.
diesel fuel is artificially cheaper here, being subsidized by gasoline pricing.
if the authorities were to reverse the scenario, with diesel subsidizing gasoline, malamang ay ilalabas ko nang mas madalas si altis at dadalang ang gamit kay innova.
and tall vehicles will always be popular, if the road conditions they roll on are in non-optimal condition. if i were to drive in s'pore, i'd probably choose a sedan.

This year is my first diesel car... plano ko talaga cx9 kasi gas and ang ganda pero over the budget naman... tapos yung price pa ng gas compared sa diesel...
in the future siguro mga 25 years from now, gas will replace diesel and hybrid/electric will replace gas in terms of pricing... what you think?
