Tipid nga... i still managed 11km/L overall on a Manila- Baguio - Manila trip with the Grandia GL. Complete with floored gas pedal driving, climbing, and traffic.
It does get some smoke but after a few highway hard runs (Italian tune-up), the smoke clears out. We recently changed tires to wider (but smaller) 215/75R15 (versus the 195/80R15 stock tires). Accelerates faster and is more stable on the highway although it's funny watching the speedo run easily to 160kph (although GPS data reads the actual speed at 145kph).

January 4th, 2012 02:01 PM #73Hindi din. Lahat halos ng 2KD-FTV mapa innova, hilux 4x2, hiace same. Umuusok kahit bago. We have these vehicles in our rent a car business kasama nissan urvan kaya nakikita ko yung pagusok kahit na malayo na natatakbo nila.

January 5th, 2012 09:51 PM #76Onga eh. Halata ko lang, may medyo maraming mga naka 2KD engine na kotse na umuusok ng matindi, lalo na kung halatang medyo laspag siya. So far nakakita na ako ng mausok na Fortuner at Innova pero wala pang Hilux at Hiace. It is interesting to note that I still haven't seen any Hyundai or Kia CRDi car spewing black smoke, only CRDi's from Isuzu (4JX1 at bihira lang), Mitsubishi (4D56 DID) and Toyota (2KD-FTV). Kahit ba naman ang Revo namin using the kopong kopo old school 2L engine hindi umuusok ng maitim kahit pumalo ng 4000rpm eh.

lahat ng diesel engine magiging mausok pag hindi well maintained... kahit hyundai, izuzu, mitsu pa yan..

January 5th, 2012 11:49 PM #78Agree with the above post. Maski old school diesel o 3rd gen CRDi basta pinapabayaan, magiging mausok.
One such example is the 4D56. After so many reincarnations from old school n/a to old school turbo to commonrail to commonrail with VGT, hindi parin nawawala ang sakit na napakaprone siya sa usok.

January 6th, 2012 12:41 AM #79The only solution to this problem is a cleaner diesel fuel. I wonder what happened to our clean air act law? Parang napako na sa 1st stage lang which was removal of harmful lead content in our fuel.
Lugi tayo sa thailand kasi our diesel is as same pricing sa atin pero they are getting cleaner fuels compared to ours
