October 9th, 2013 07:07 AM #42Good point sir. Ive been getting comments nga na whichever one i get, choose the 250x or 2.4v daw. Hindi po ba too much impractical yun with the current gas prices and traffic situation lately? Plan ko pa naman mag 18's on either, then konting drop para magka porma lang ng onti yung tayo.

When using midsizers or petrol CUVs, FC will take a step back against comfort or style or preference. True that there are more fuel efficient petrol CUVs now but we still see a lot of people driving around with their 2nd gen CRVs, Escapes, RAV4s, Tributes, or Xtrails and these vehicles are not really on top of the list for fuel efficiency. The same thing goes for people driving daily with their Accords, Galants, Cefiros, Camrys or Mazda6.

PM kita pards.
At this point, look at both units second hand and go for the one that gives the best deal and preferably, original paint and a first owner is the one selling. My take on the fuel consumption is that the difference between the 2.4L/2.5L versus the 2.0L will not be that far off anymore, especially if you drive with a light foot. Try to confirm with actual owners.

October 9th, 2013 10:55 AM #45just my 2 cents...
I have the camry 2.4 (though with the 5 speed)... its my daily driver in traffic, so the 5 speed does not really matter... I get 6Km/L daily QC-makati rush hour...
My brother had the Xtrail 250X... also a daily driver... same route... camry gets better mileage... in addtion, the nissan is particular with 95octane... big difference with mileage.
Camry is more refined... im very particular with sound proofing.. which the Xtrail somehow lacks... even the doors are light
Though as a Toy Car, xtrail is very nice... was already thinking of large tires, light bars, etc....
Really a tough choice.

The Camry is very particular sa insulation. Nung natatanggal yung parang rubber lining sa door windows ng Camry ng Grandpa, umingay sya sobra sa highway. At matikas din sa baha. I was once caught in Banawe-Retiro intersection in a bumper high flood, yakang-yaka. :p Isa pa, halos walang vibrations ang Camry, try putting it in 'N', place your hands in the steering wheel and rev it hard. You won't feel anything. Entry ownership talaga is the 2.0G, pero if kaya mo yung facelifted 2.4V mas OK yun kasi power front and rear seats na din.

October 9th, 2013 12:25 PM #47Wow salamat sa lahat ng comments, insights and suggestion nyo mga boss!!
Sobrang helpful. Though around 2nd week of december pa 'to magiging possible, gusto ko malaman na agad yung pros and cons para well thought of yung magiging decision ko.
Wish me luck in deciding and in looking for a best buy unit!!
Cheers!

From an xtrail owner, for sure you won't get that luxurious feel with it. For me it's really bland inside. Camry gets the nod on that category.
I bet the fuel efficiency of both cars (xty and camry) would be the same. Mine (2.0) is about 7km/L on 95 octane. Kapag yung cheapest gas (91 octane?) for me wala yung neck-snapping hatak at hirap sa overtakes. So i always load up higher octanes depende kung mura yung blaze.
My friend owns the 2.5, and he's getting aroung 6.5k/L, so almost the same. Talo ka lang sa 2.5 kapag traffic prone yung daily route mo. On highway driving, its more economical and more fun to drive

To add, have taken my 2.0G along Pasong tamo in muffler deep water. Ok naman, though di ko na uulitin for the muffler's sake. And you're right, minimum to no vibrations when in 'N'. Have a little in mine though coz of the broken engine support. But still, very smooth despite that. The 2.0G and 2.4V are identical except for the engine, IIRC.
Parang 1999 ata last year ng 4wd variant sa taiwan(LHD) so baka subic na yan narito saatin
