Opinions please. I'm planning to get a mini-SUV I have made my rounds and up to now cant make up my mind, since each has its pros and cons. I need your expert opnions and your experience on these 3 vehicles.
These 3 are almost on the same price level, Top of the line CRV, Outlander GLS, and Fortuner 4x2 D4D. Please give me advise on which one to get.

This is what i know so far:
Fortuner 4x2 D4D is the biggest of the three and offers CRDi engine and supposdly better mileage per peso, but I heard most people complain of harsh ride and it lacks the options offered by the other two e.g 4wd, traction control, stability control, auto leveling HID lights, folding side mirrors etc....
4wd version is out of the question, 200k difference only goes out to the engine and tranny. Besides my budget is for the 1.4M bracket only

The CRV has a lot of options plus a Honda after sales service to boast off and a good reputation thats hard to ignore, being a satisfied honda owner before, but has the a styling that only a handful appreciates. How is the new 2.4L engine perform really? Mileage etc....

The Outlander is the est looking of the bunch, It has almost the same option as the CRV minus the seat cover and a lockable 4wd. It has the biggest engine and its here where my hesitation goes, How much does it consume as compared to the CRV's 2.4L? I have owned several mitsus before and sad to say their after sales service sucks and quality control on their vehicle is likewise poor.

So, if any of you lucky people owns any one or all three of these cars, share naman your opinion. Thanks in advance

Siguro Outlander na ang pinakamaganda sa 3. But I don't think na yung fuel consumption nya ay kapareho ng CR-V kasi 3.0 V6. Outlander is equipped w/ 6 airbags, CR-V 4 airbags, Fortuner 2. Meron din traction control, stability control, and automatic folding side mirrors ang Outlander katulad ng CR-V. Pero ang Fortuner wala kahit isa. Meron lang ang Fortuner ABS & EBD. Sa design kakaiba yung Outlander parang pinaghalong sport & luxury, yung CR-V mukang "BUG" or VW New Beetle. Sa handling mukang pinakamatino na ang CR-V kasi naka test drive na ako ng tatlo kasi gusto ko ring SUV ang next car ko.
why don't you try the Fortuner 2.7 G 4x2 VVT-i? hindi naman malakas sa gas eh.

depende na po sa iyo yan eh... are u conscious about ur surroundings? bawat lingon mo may fortuner at crv na... anyways kung ndi, as an owner of the outlander medyo matakaw nga cya... im getting 5-6 km/l on city driving, tapos mga 10-12 km/l ang highway driving. after sales naman here sa baguio is good, i owned a pajero before, asikaso naman ako... maybe it really depends on the branch. Quality control... 1 month na sakin unit ko ok naman i dont see any defects or whatever... gawang japan ang unit kaya cguro.

kaw narin nag sabi that the crv has a styling that only a few appreciates, so depende ulit yan sayo, tapos honda nga... pero for me kasi badge isnt everything, ang haba pa ng pila pag mag pa service ka...

fortuner is the biggest pero dami features na wala dun sa dalawa... tapos panalo ka kasi diesel... tapos bawat lingon mo may fortuner na... pero depende na sayo.. haha puro depende ang words ko...

hmm.. if you already have a practical car for the city go for the outlander... it will make the pleasure of driving more satisfying. otherwise, go for the CR-V... Just dont stare at it too much...

i agree with everyone so far, the outlander WILL definitely get you a second look. sadly/gladly, the fortuner brouhaha is sooo over months ago. we really need to reduce the number of fortuners on the road. the cr-v naman, you will have little confidence in driving it, yourself having the opinion that its neither here nor there in the looks department.

of course, puro external lang ang basis ng comments ko. the math on the engines has been presented already. and the obvious winner pa rin is outlander. mukhang gas consumption na lang problema mo, but with gas going over P40/liter, it seems to be a biiiiiig problem.

if ur route going to and from ur places are destination are always on the go and with minimal stops ull be ok with the outlander, just avoid too much idling and stopping.

yung mazda 3 2.0 ko same consumption lang dun sa outlander ko... and thats 1 liter bigger pa... pero yung nga lang 2 years old na mazda 3 ko...

The most practical would likely be the CR-V. Good drive, comfort, and fuel economy isn't horrible (not this time around). But of the three, my heart definitely goes to the Santa Fe... errh... the Outlander. About the only thing I don't like about its interior is the strange door handle placement (sitting in a huge piece of plastic on the door), but then, it's more posh-looking than the cheap silver on the CRV's door handles.

The Outlander has a great looking and feeling interior. The CRV comes close, and I like the CRV's front seats and color better (personal preference lang yun, though). The Fortuner's interior feels kinda cheap, and the construction of the seats is kinda poor (though they're well padded).

All three handle decently (surprising, for the CRV... didn't really like the handling on the old ones), but the Outlander is sportiest.

    Speed? No contest... V6 > I4 > D4D

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I think I'd go for the Fortuner. It's a Toyota and you can probably maintain it reasonably for another 10 years. I have a 2003 Honda CRV and it's such a disappointment. It sounds so ricketty already just after 4 years (Not what I expected for something that was meant for off-roading). Maintenance costs are also high. After sales also is something that leaves so much to be desired. If you plan to change cars after 3 years then you may want to experiment with the CRV

    That's because it wasn't meant for off-roading.

Alam niyo na pala pros and cons ng each so it's really up to you matching it with what you want most in the cuv. But I went through a similar experience just a couple of weeks ago and ended up with a Forester.

Using another perspective, here's my take on the potential problems you might encounter with each model:

CR-V -- Aside from the horrid looks, another problem would be Honda's notoriously expensive aftersales service.

Fortuner -- A favorite staple of car thieves/carjackers.

Outlander -- I'm a Mitsu fanboy at heart, but with Outlander having the same engine as the Lancer Evolution, expect an obscene amount of fuel consumption.

    **************************************************

For your budget, have you considered the Suzuki Grand Vitara? The base model costs only 1,203,000 for M/T, and 1,278,000 for A/T. The XSport variant costs 1,375,000. And if you're willing to stretch your budget just a little bit more, the top-of-the-line Luxury model costs 1,570,000.

And to top it off, the Grand Vitara promises, no, guarantees superb off-road performance.

Have you considered the Santa Fe? Good value for money.

suv are mostly fuel suckers. given yan so that this should not be a big factor. if you are willing to spend 1.4m, then you must be ready to feed your suv.
at the end of the day, personal preference should prevail over external influence.

    good luck sa choice mo

+1 din ako dito. used to look down on korean made cars but the sta fe made me a believer. spacious, build quality equal or better than jap standards, comfortable, great suspension and handling.

although the fortuner's ride is a bit too harsh, it certainly makes up for it with good and relatively affordable aftersales service. engine performance and reliability (gas) is top notch too.

personally, i think the new crv is a disappointment. more than a month after release and it still looks weird. aircon system is still based on the unreliable keihen compressor so don't expect your a/c to last as long as those based on sanden or denso parts. one good thing about the crv is the more fuel efficient (relative to the 2nd gen) bulletproof engine. ride quality's improved too. if you don't mind expensive aftersales service and splurging on compressor replacements every 2 or 3 years, get the CRV.

don't know anything about the outlander so my line-up would look like this:
sta fe (hehe) > fortuner > CRV.
