I believe CVT will *eventually* become serviceable.

Before ECUs were a black box and some old schoolers didn't want them because hindi na 'tunable' like carbs were, but eventually we figured them out.

DSGs were a black box and if they failed replace the whole unit, now for some models at least we have rebuild and even re-gear kits.

jazz. if you can't get that new window-type a/c into your civic's trunk you'll appreciate a hatchback. and it's not just any hatchback the jazz got ULT seats, the rear seats collapse to create a deep flat floor

Not w/o more maintenance expense & paranoia than the proven trannies mentioned. It's common knowledge that can be spun any which way. Call me old, old school, Scotty, whatever....still refuse to be a sucker for everything the manufacturers throw us. Just me.[emoji4]

Pastillan!! (sounds like pastillas)

Simple lang workaround diyan and you don't need to splice anything so you don't ruin anything. You just tap one of the unused fuses of the car and install an additional USB port to which you can connect your dashcam to charge.

Did it with our CRV because the 12V socket was inside the center console/armrest area.

Here's a step by step guide for hardwiring a dashcam:
DIY: Hardwiring your Dashcam - Team-BHP

Literally not a deal-breaker, at all. Any decent car electrician can do it if you're not keen on DIY. And your warranty will stay intact because it's a plug and play (and removable) mod.

There are much bigger problems for the 12th gen Altis - namely that it doesn't offer anything better than the rest of the competition. It doesn't drive better, look better, ride better, or have more features than other compacts. They all come with CVTs so if you'll believe the hype then it won't last any longer (or if you don't believe the hype, then there's no reason a Civic will not last as long as an Altis).

Just wondering. You are buying a coding car na brand new? Paano kung natyempo the plate that they assign you is the same as what your Civic currently has.

It happened to me and I had to sell the old car and buy a "new" 2nd hand car that has the plate on it already.

For Honda the maintenance of conventional AT and the new CVT is the same, every 2 years or 40KM whichever comes first. So no additional cost in maintenance.

Yes ako lang magisa gagamit 99% of the time. Coding car just means I need a car for days na d ko pwede ilabas current car ko. Twice a week to since wednesday coding ko at night shift ako. Yan ung minimum atleast. Either I buy a car na mainly used twice a week or palit sila ng civic ko and my civic becomes the coding car used twice a week.

Mas madami ung 7-seater mini suvs than 5-seater crossovers/hatches

On the CVTs, agree ako, kinda don't want to get a CVT if I can help it. Pero most cars now are CVTs, lamang sa choice ko Vitara vs HR-V mainly because it's conventional AT. But doing more research halos lahat ng CVTs na nasisira are Nissan kaya un lang ayaw ko na CVT. I think Subaru have been using CVTs since 2013, I did look at the XV before I bought the civic, CVT na un and wala naman ako nababasa na problem with that.

My list right now looks like this
    1. Civic
    2. Seltos - Thanks to Jut703, I'm good with that type of key so balik na ito sa list ko.
    3. Jimny
    4. Second-hand
    5. HR-V
    6. Jazz/City
    7. Altis
    8. Vitara

I'll ask Toyota if they have a workaround for the dashcam. I like the exterior of the Altis, pero true hindi maganda interior. Jimny, hay...nakakainis cya, gusto ko cya in that kakaiba cya. I get a 4x4, it's cute and well built. pero ang mahal for a toy.

I think I'll give 2nd hands another look. Middle of last year nagcheck ako and they seem to be taking advantage of the train law, my '13 civic is around 700k...lol 850k lang bili ko nung 2013...Did a quick look at carmudi and the 2016 Mazda 6 is at 900k which is a very good price and swak pa ung plate sa gusto ko na coding day... looks like the prices are settling after the initial wave of train.
If I were choosing, it would be between the Seltos and the Jimny.

Since you said you'll be mostly alone, all the space behind the driver's seat you can use for cargo. It would probably end up swallowing more than a sedan's trunk. Of course we add to that the benefits of 4x4. And also that it takes up the least amount of garage space.

IMHO the Seltos looks great and is well known to be quite thrifty due to having a hybrid-style Atkinson cycle engine. Wouldn't be surprised if it matches, or even exceeds the Jimny's fuel efficiency.

Hmmm I thought I read somewhere in the forum that you may request a change of plate ending provided that you already own a vehicle with the same plate ending.? Not sure though.

Ibig sabihin ending 1 and 2 pa din both?
