    - Check the vehicle report. Make sure that you check the car carefully before purchasing. Sometimes don't trust the sellers because they always want to hide the car's accident reports.
    - Go on a test drive: Take a test with the car you are going to buy. You should try to drive as far as possible because driving in short distance can not help you see all the problems of the car.
    - Price the cars: Use pricing guides and find out what experts say the car you’ve chosen is worth.
Totally agree with all the tips mentioned above. Another thing to remember is to make sure that you research your options extensively. This is to avoid making the wrong decision. Know almost all details with regards to the price range and car model. Thanks for sharing these tips.

If you can still find those AE92 small body corolla skd (semi-knock-down) that would be a good start. Of course be wary of the engine and underbody condition.

get one that's not carburated, but electronic fuel injected. it's less headache and less maintenance.
...a sentra...? it has lower market value daw, but it is good quality. the old sentra engine is second only to the old corolla's, in some experts' rating list.
a corolla... should be easier to service, as it has argueably more parts around.

    but a warning.
at your price range, expect fixin's left and right. set aside some money.

the corolla gli is EFI already. the XL and XE are not.
the sentra EX and Super Saloon are EFI. so is the GX, and the grandeur (yata).
if you know what a carburator looks like, open the engine cover and see.
    good luck.
